I worked at the Cambridge Centre softmoc and my experience was awful and unforgettable. A few of the girls were lovely to work with but the management girls were absolutely horrible. Extremely rude, lazy and thief’s. They would wear shoes without paying, never take out the trash, would leave the store multiple times a day, throw stuff in the back when they were anger, would be late to work all the time, leave off the responsibility and actually work for the part time staff while they would sit on their phones and call their friends instead of working. The job itself was amazing, I loved the customers but dealing with the management team was an absolute nightmare. I wish the best of luck for whoever ends up working with them. Just a heads up never bring cash to this job as it will be stolen.

The manager is poorly handled and unfit. The manager is very rude to not only employees but to customers as well. You are only getting paid $10.15 an hour plus commission. The manager steals money from employees and the cash register. While looking for a pair of shoes, they are constantly watching you. You can't take more than a minute to look for a pair of shoes in the backroom. Allows other employees to take your sales. They steal shoes. They allow the employees to take shoes out of the boxes to wear around the store as said in another review. They leave work to go shopping. They bribe you with overtime, tell you that you will get paid for it. Which is not true. Horrible things are constantly being said about you and towards you. Multiple people have quit due to the management at this location. If you try to quit, good luck. You are in for a mouthful and a lot of drama.

Loved the customer service side of the job

Upper management wasn't the kindest to work for, but I loved the day to day work responsibilities, the management of my role as well as dealing with customers. I learned a lot about customer service, handling stressful situations.

Horrible don’t ever work for them. As many others said if the manager likes you , you get the hours it not then you get nothing! To much drama and all little kids working. The manger at the Cambridge location is nice to your face but the second you turn around horrible things are said about you, the manager at that location allows the workers to wear the shoes, when your not allowed, take the shoes with out paying for them, allows her friends to come in and grab shoes, allows everyone in the back room., they take one hour lunch when it’s only 30 minutes, so horrible, Just horrible. softmoc shouldn’t give any type of management position to little girls. It’s a disaster in there. Point being never work for them! Aswell they pay 10.15 plus commission but they take the commission you make to fix the pay.

Base pay is weak. There is a commission bonus but it only really shows during the holidays. Outside of the holidays, reaching your daily goals to make the minimum amount of commission is very difficult. This information was disclosed after the right questions were asked; it was not voluntarily shared, I had to ask about it

I work in the Rocky View area in Calgary. Management is extremely rude and unprofessional. Co-workers are just as bad. District manager is even worse. The back room is a complete mess, we can never find anything. Constant drama all the time mainly caused by the MANAGER. She’s very toxic and always talks about her employees behind her back.

I worked at the Bayshore location. Management is absolutely terrible, they spend more time on their phones than working, and assisting employees. Won't help take care of issues, but instead will blame new employees and yell and belittle them. Do not recommend working here at all! Way too much drama, and not enough support. I was fired for lack of performance, but I picked up any shift they needed covered. Basically asked you for everything and gave you nothing in return. Was paid below minimum wage because of "commission". Steer clear.

SAVE YOUR VALUABLE TIME they pay bellow min wage because they pay "commission" (i worked overtime and barely scrapped the province's min wage). awful AWFUL management, they give you the bare minimum, take advantage of their young staff and expect you to give your soul.
not to mention the toxic work environment, strict dress code (formal attire only), and catty employees (everyone, including the management is 16-21).
AND THEY LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE about your pay!!!!!!!!!!!

This man, who was originally caught drinking and driving on the job, was PROMOTED to Ops. Manager and is honoured with the task of belittling all employees no matter their position, dedication to their respective jobs. Take him out and you should have a well oiled machine.

Generally busy and fast pace environment

Involves a lot of standing, carrying around boxes and customer service interactions. Lots of great brands for good prices. The challenging parts of the job may be maintaining patience and making sure customers are not made to wait for a long time as many people may ask for many sizes/shoes at the same time.

It is a privilege being a part of the Soft Moc team. The staff are more than just coworkers, but friends. In turn, this benefits both the customers coming into the store and the employees creating an overall positive and energetic atmosphere full of acceptance, and helpfulness.

The kids that work there are very stuck up and rude. Also softmoc pays 9.50 per hour.. I was not happy when i got my pay stub and it said 9.50 plus commission. The minimum wage is 12.65 I called the company and there is nothing they will do.

Easily the most drama filled work place I have ever worked at, everybody gossips about each other as soon as one leaves the store- and most of the employees take hour long breaks even if it’s extremely busy on the floor. The pay is terrible, you get dragged in by the whole “you make commission here!” But little do they tell you that you only make $10.15 per hour as base pay. Your commission is supposedly supposed to boost you up to minimum wage. It’s overall a horrible place to work and there is no professionalism or organization, the store is a mess.

It's retail...what do you expect.

Like most retail positions, the turnaround time is outstanding, management can improve, and the pay for how much work is done is very low. At softmoc, all positions make minumum wage other than the store manager. Base rates increase and are only in effect if commission is made, however, if you don't work at a busy location, expect to be paid a minimum wage salary. Even if you're an assistant manager, shift lead, or key holder...a little bit absurd in my opinion.

disorganized back room, and messy management. Only pro is the other staff you get the chance to meet and work with.
