Engineering (Former Employee) – Toronto, Canada – 11 April 2018
I joined during a busy time with many projects. I worked in a great department with great people. People's experiences will all be different, but I have positive things to say about SNC. The benefits are good, compared to WorleyParsons.
Not Worth the time. Engineering Jobs will soon be outsourced to India just like IT.
Structural Engineer (Former Employee) – Vancouver, BC – 17 March 2018
Coorporate decided to outsource IT to India and they laid off a massive amount of Collegues in Canada. They just joined Atkins and with their Engineering center in india most of the work will be outsourced as well. This has already started with Canadian Projects already being done there. Management style is based on a Fireman approach put the fires out as they come along. No real long term planning, senior management spends a lot of money at conferences for themselves but they dont invest much in the people who actually do the work.. Work environment is ok, nothing to brag about. Our Head office is in Montreal and when they dont have work they come this way to steal work from locals and they do it in a very bullish way. This company strength is a lot of finacial backing but as far as a well managed company goes, it is certainly not.
Low Salary, Bad management, Terrible Head office attitude and Benefits were downgraded last year.
Productive and fun work place with fully accessible gym
LEAD COST CONTROLLER (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 16 March 2018
A wonderful company to work with . I learned a lot of experience by dealing with different stakeholders e.g. Buyers , Contracts Specialists , Project Manager , Planner & Scheduler and Construction Manager. Working environment is excellent and every one , including high management , is very cooperative. All the quality and control procedures are in place. The hardest apart of the job is sometime I have to manage 5-6 projects at a time. The most enjoyable part of the job is , once the project is completed and handed over to the Client , the whole team get a big appreciation from the Client and high management.
Productive, cooperative environment and recommendable company.
Sr. Piping Engineering Specialist (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 18 January 2018
Working with the company on different projects doing mostly stress analysis on friend-working environment. Everybody is cooperative with regards to input to the necessary engineering information and jointly completed the design and engineering on each project on specified time schedule. The over-all rating of the company is very excellent and recommendable with better management and best benefits to the employees. The working culture is well organized and technically meeting the international code of conduct focused to company goal. I learned and shared my experience on stress analysis especially the dynamic analysis on critical piping system.
Free Snack - Coffee
Long hours and with every Friday off and can save extra works to pay for losses.
Guest services attendant (Former Employee) – fort mcmurray Canada – 18 December 2017
Management wasn't the most reliable. The pay was good, but not worth all the time spent away from home and your family. The most enjoyable part of the job was the Camp itself - forming relationships with fellow colleagues and activities outside of work.
Very fast paced competitive work environment in winning projects on an international competitive basis
Proposals/Business/Project Manager (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 17 October 2017
As proposals manager directed a team of professionals in preparing winning proposals meeting the potential clients requirement. Established winning strategies and plans for successful execution. Prepared presentations to clients senior executives. Provided the business, engineering & technology and operating experience for project proposals. Management culture was 100% delegation as long as project contracts were won and successfully executed. The hardest part of the job was to meet unrealistic deadlines on proposals. The most enjoyable part was to win and execute projects successfully.
Good salary & benefits and challenging environment
Manager (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 27 June 2017
Decent salaries and benefits packages for all employees, but the top-heavy management levels of this organization leads to a bureaucratic web that takes 6 layers of approval to get anything done. While some of that can't be helped with such a large international organization, even during the current harsh economic times they have retained an inordinate amount of VPs/execs despite a significant reduction in the regular employee base that actually conducts the work.
Workplace culture can also be a tad divisive at times, with more efforts required on inter-discipline coordination / team-building. The hardest part of the job is maintaining 100% billable hours during the harsh economic times when client project budgets are scant and lay-offs abound.
Excellent Company with good benefits, friendly environment.Possibilities of working in the field and overseas.Very good management team. I started as a Junior Engineer and became Lead Engineer in a very short time. Hard work is very much appreciated and rewarded by the Company.
Flexible hours, many different kinds of jobs possible within the Company
Technical Support (Former Employee) – Montréal, QC – 24 May 2017
I was there for almost 2 years, and I truly enjoyed the various job tasks that had been given to me. If it wasn't for the fact of moving to Toronto because of my change of marital status, I would have stayed at the company.
Sr. Instrument Designer (Current Employee) – Calgary, AB – 28 March 2017
Good People & a very good workplace for everyone. Benefits are awesome and all employees are friendly and helpful with each other. its also a place wherein continuous learning for the employees are available thru continuous training's and seminars.
free coffees and donuts every friday courtesy of the department managers
Terrible, unqualified managers who cover up their ineptitude by pushing staff to do their job. Frequent reminders that the job market is sparse.
Scientist (Former Employee) – Canada – 25 March 2017
The compensation for the hours worked and stress is very low. Staff is under stress as they are reminded constantly that they are lucky to have a job. Totally unqualified managers with lowest ethics I have ever encountered. Learned nothing and conversely had management consistently take credit for the staff's personal work. Coworkers are amazing but underappreciated. Often they hire entry level workers that they can abuse and don't know any better as they have never worked at a reputable company before.
Maybe other departments are better but mine was abysmal.
