the interview process made me not continue with sleep country.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Prince Albert, SK - 30 August 2023
Sleep Country sounds like a great place to work but their interview process needs to be better handled as I spoke to two people asking the same questions they lack communication between departments and once I got the next step forward I had a 100+ questionnaire to answer between strongly agree and disagree with very personal questions some almost invasive for an employer to even ask which is why I didn't proceed with the application interview process as it was too invasive for an employer to ask those questions. I will however proceed with the job interview if Sleep Country makes the questionnaire less invasive to their future employees or gives an interview in person for a judge of character instead of a questionnaire that has invasive questions about an individual rights of privacy which shouldn't be infringed by a company.
Pros
Sales
Cons
Invasive towards privacy

Overall, a great team
Receiver (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 3 August 2023
Just want to shout out that the Kelowna DC has some of the best guys to work with. I am still friends with a lot of the staff despite having left my employment years ago. I always felt secure at my job, and it was one of the least toxic places I have ever worked at. Pros: -Truly a friendly environment -Fantastic supervisors and management at the Kelowna location Cons: -Pay could've been a bit better at the time -Can be a very physically demanding job

Great at a local level, excessive involvement from upper management
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 2 July 2023
Everyone at the distribution center is great to work with. Nice casual environment where people are encouraged to get to know each other while still getting the work done. New upper management has started to implement a lot of initiatives that are good in theory but are not well thought out prior to implementation. This has lead to a significant increase in data entry and what feels like misguided tasking and micromanaging. They also go about treating every distribution center the same even though we have ones that only have a handful of employees and a couple of delivery trucks a day and also ones that have around 50 employees and between 20 and 30 trucks a day.

TMS Implementation and Logistics Specialist - 12 month Contract
TMS Implementation and Logistics Specialist - 12 month Contract (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 27 June 2023
Sleep Country are advertising this position AGAIN for about the fifth time in 6 months, they have had in excess of 800 applications and they cannot find anyone good enough to fill the job or they don't want to fill it and collect their money from the government because they are advertising a fake position. Fake position to collect $3500 for every time they post it. Not the sort of company anyone would want to work for because if they do that to fake positions, how do they treat their staff. Also a 12 month temporary job is not really a career as they say they would like to treat you.
Pros
Nothing to see here
Cons
If only

Productive and fun
CUSTOMER SERVICE (Former Employee) - Richmond, BC - 23 June 2023
Productive and Fun, Management is good Benefits are above industry standard and pay is low compared to others. Good place to start the career but don't stay too long until promoted.

Uncapped Income Potential and Poor Treatment
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Ottawa, ON - 6 June 2023
Long hours (11 hours on weekdays) work every weekend unless on vacation. Many sales meetings and workshops and re-training that bite into the little personal time you have left. Made the most money I ever have. The first layer of management thinks you are property to be traded and moved around to whatever stores within the region, without notice, and for flimsy reasons. It's a "do as I say, not as I do" 1-way relationship. Greed is the most rewarded attribute in sales staff. The benefits are amazing, HR department is helpful, and the executive level has become disconnected from the front line since going public. Some customers are great, most will treat you like trash. Nothing wrong with building a great amount of savings here and moving on.

Very positive work experience!
Retail Sales Representative (Current Employee) - Dieppe, NB - 23 May 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The best part of working at Sleep Country is the management support we get. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I work in a location that is not safe and at times I have to work alone. SO it can get stressful.

Supportive work environment
HR Coordinator (Current Employee) - Canada - 16 May 2023
I feel supported in my day to day work activities by my manager. I love the hybrid work environment (two days at the office and the rest from home). There is flexibility when taking vacation.

Good place to work but more on favouritism
Sales Executive – Sleep Systems & Accessories (Current Employee) - GTA, ON - 10 April 2023
Its a good place to work. But your promotions and other benefits depends upon your approach to the Managers. If you have anyone to push you can grow to higher positions even though your performance is not that much. Also if you have connections they will put you in a better store, if not will send you to an average or lower ones.
Pros
Good place
Cons
Favouritiam

If you would like to discuss your experiences further, please do reach out to your HR team. Thank you again for providing your feedback!
productive and fun place. no pressure and no harassments. Except one Idiot RM.
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 16 March 2023
Like any other corporation here also favoritism exist. Each region has a bunch of people close to RM. Internal politics put you on edge. people close to management get quick promotions. IF your sales are higher than ASM you will be moved to slow performing store.
Pros
paid training 3 times a year.
Cons
not everybody make good income. some stores are low performing

Long hours, too much politics and nepotism. Poor management.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Langley, BC - 12 February 2023
Long hours, promise you the world but it never happens. Culture is gone. Some regional managers are unprofessional, vindictive and promote their close family and good friends.
Pros
Money
Cons
Long hours and poor management

Pros
Half hour lunch
Cons
No communication, un fit work, no staff

Fast paced … it’s just a job
Customer Service Agent (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 20 January 2023
It’s fast paced and you’re expected to meet the monthly KPI’s. You’re left feeling like you’re just there to fill a seat and do a job. You’re yelled at often by customers who talk down to you and will treat you like dirt. It’s a job. Not a career.
Pros
Some calls are positive where you feel like you did a good job, work from home
Cons
No life/work balance, long hours, angry customers, not allowed to ignore calls, have to tell management when you need to use the washroom

Big Corporation under new management
Retail Sales Associate (Current Employee) - British Columbia - 3 December 2022
A regular retail place to work. You are replaceable, you are a number to them. Clock in and clock out. Long hours, don't expect too much. Not a job you can have a social life in. No time for dating, seeing family, hobbies, sports, pets, traveling, etcetera. You will work alone and nobody will care about you before or even after you quit.
Pros
Can make money if placed in good store location
Cons
Long hours, no work life balance, corporation will scare you into compliancy and threaten your job over anything small

No work/life balance
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Brampton, ON - 27 November 2022
Love the job duties itself but there’s no work/family balance, the hours are often long and you are monitored throughout your shift. You need to tell your manager when you need to use the washroom, you need to take your breaks at the scheduled time and if you miss it, you need to ask permission to go. Most days can be rewarding but lots of grumpy people who yell at you for mistakes done by others
