Painter (Current Employee) – Kingston, ON – 3 September 2018
I currently work for the company in Kingston. The people I work with are wonderful, management as well. This company is going places, up up up. I what to be there when they do. The most enjoyable aspect of the job is the tenants. We try and please everyone the best we can.
The tenants, my colleagues and management
Not enough hours in the day to get the job done in a timely manner.

Resident Manager (Current Employee) – Brant, ON – 17 October 2018
Honestly I was excited to start this job and then I started realizing how lousy this company is. They make it seem like they care but really they don’t. This company is very emotionally and mentally abusive towards all staff members. They hire lousy contractors with the lowest bid to do band aid fixes in all their buildings. If a tenant complains about a repair and you schedule a contractor and then the contractor doesn’t show up, you get it from the tenant and head office never backs up their on site staff. They pay you 28,000$ as a Resident Manager or 9,600$ as a Assistant Resident Manager. You work 95.5 hours and get paid 15th and 30th of the month. They don’t care if you get sick or have to take time off for more than 4 months they’ll just fire you or threaten too unless you are the favourite employee and kiss their butts They want more rent from tenants but literally only cosmetically fix buildings. They have to keep their Tesla’s fuelled up you know. You’ll get farther in the company if you kiss butt to the big wigs. They literally are the lowest paying property management company so STAY AWAY. I don’t know how they ever got best employer cause they are the worse. They don’t give maternity leave so if you are young and want a family don’t work here. If you want something you need to constantly ride your property managers butt because they lie all the time. They just want money and numbers. They shouldn’t even be in the property management industry. They charge ridiculous prices for rent for falling apart units unless it’s the newer buildings.
Here’smore... a tip for head office, if you don’t want such a high turnover rate from your employees maybe actually treat them like human beings and pay a decent wage. Can’t expect a top dollar work environment with less than minimum wage pay. You all sit at head office and think you have a hard job but the people who LITERALLY keep the money to flow in your pockets is not paid fairly.less
Stupid Company, Don’t know how to run anything properly, Emotionally and Mentally Abusive, Low pay
Superintendent (Former Employee) – Red Deer, AB – 11 September 2018
I worked for these jokers once. Absolutely terrible. No job security. The upper property Managers will lie to cover themselves, NOT the employees, and talk/lie to other sites. This company (skyline) is all about the money, and numbers. They dont care about the employees or people living in their places. They really dont have a clue on what is going on nor do they care. As long as the numbers are up. If the numbers are down ,you'll get worked to death(no O.T) Just to let you go. Beware of this company. They will move you in, and if they let you go, no notice and 7 days to move out. If you like being treated like a slave with bare pay. Then all the best. Boardwalk isnt even this bad as a company.
RM (Former Employee) – Windsor, ON – 9 September 2018
- Commission was being Stolen - No paid overtime - Forced overtime "Volunteering" - Fake Managers - Unorganized - No Communication - Dishonest - Cruel - Demeaning when being talked to - Brown Nosing to be successful - Higher Ups give no support - No WORK/life balance - Pay after all overtime comes out to about 3.41$/hr. - Not just one or two locations that are bad. All have similar problems. Don't just take my word for it, go check out glass door reviews. Working at mcdonalds is more rewarding and comes with better wage.
Assistant Resident Manager (Former Employee) – Brantford, ON – 5 September 2018
They treat you like garbage and bully you around, constantly lie and find loop holes. This company doesn’t care about their workers and you get paid below minimum wage and your yearly salary is around $8000.00 a year!
Cleaner/Maintenance (Former Employee) – Peterborough, ON – 16 August 2018
Unfair workload unfriendly people caddy drama-filled work environment..... not to mention very high turnover. Unreasonable time frames. everyone's always playing the blame game. My advice would be avoid at all cost I would rather flip Burgers than work in this dump.
Receptionist (Former Employee) – Guelph, ON – 16 May 2018
Staff is super clicky like high school and if you go against the grain, you are singled out and ignored on social excursions. They do a good job at making the work environment fun, but the clickiness is intimidating. ** HR management should be restructured. Reception expectations are unrealistic but manageable. Greet guests, answer BUSY phone lines. Scripted screened incoming calls for upper management. Not allowed to leave reception desk unattended but also expected to check all coffee machines in all areas of office, clean kitchen, monitor dishwashers, order and put out fruit in all lunch rooms on 2 floors, stock all office areas, open all mail which was piles high, distribute all mail in appropriate mail boxes, Purolator orders each day.
Rate of Pay, Work load, High turner over staff, social clicky.
Restaurant Manager (Current Employee) – Barrie, ON – 26 November 2017
Skyline is a great company to work for. I can honestly say we “have fun” at work. There are lots of perks working for skyline. The list is endless. This includes free ski and golf passes, preferred rate at other skyline hotels. Discounts to other attractions including wonderland, santa’s Village, and the Toronto accuriam.
Free ski and golf and preferred rates at any skyline hotel
Property Manager (Former Employee) – Guelph, ON – 13 June 2017
From a little student rental to one of Canada's fastest growing REITs in only 15 years, of course there have been growing pains for both employer and employees. However, Skyline's heart is in the correct place. A great company to grow with if you have a good attitude and a forgiving sense of humour.
Resident Manager (Current Employee) – Ridgetown, ON – 14 March 2017
Each day is a new day to learn and grow within this company. There's always something new to experience and grow from. The team envrionment is amazing, structured. Monthly inspections, and VERY supportive in whatever life throws at you.
Restaurant Manager (Former Employee) – Sarnia, ON – 2 February 2017
priorities changed all the time. pay was terrible. was harassed by upper management. all efforts to streamline or organize were shot down. all together very unorganized and toxic environment. only perk was the people who lived in the building. they were fantastic.
if you are interested in working for this company or another one as a resident manager/superintendent ask lots if questions and speek to others working for them first. never would have worked for this company if I had done that first.
