Hardly worth it anymore
Food Courier (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 27 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedInitially it was a good option to get additional income, but now, gas prices and maintenance costs make it hardly worth it to be driving around for ungrateful customers that hardly tip. Mileage payment is just not enough and you don't get paid for round trips which makes it hard to accept orders. This affects your acceptance rate and with it the amount of orders you are able to complete, and if you get below the 80% acceptance rate, the payment goes down. They should also be more specific on what customers complain about when you receive a poor rating as sometimes the problem relies when you get more than one order to deliver, the customer might get upset because their food took too long to get delivered, but the app sends you to deliver another order first, which is completely outside of the couriers control
Pros
Flexible hours
Cons
Not enough orders or small orders that do not tip well, high mileage and small pay per mile

If they have a real boss I would have been fired already
Independent Courier (Current Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 29 July 2023
Super flexible work schedule that you can pause and end your shifts and accept shifts and extend shifts and then cancel them right away and then you can go spend time with your wife and your kids and then you can go shopping maybe take a delivery if you want maybe hustle your behind if you are short rent money so this is the great job for a slacker like me that sometimes gets big bouts of motivation and I can make bunch of money in a short period of time however if I actually had to report to a boss I'm sure I would have been fired in my first week
Pros
No repercussion flexible schedule
Cons
The pay is not really enough to support a family

Lack of Transit Pay
Food Courier (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 20 July 2023
SkipTheDishes I find does not pay enough for transit pay in the area I work in, however, since they added fast tracked orders where you can queue orders ahead, your always on the go especially on weekends.
Pros
Flexible Schedule
Cons
Low Pay

Great if you drive an electric car, I suppose.
Food Courier (Current Employee) - Regina, SK - 13 July 2023
It's a gig economy delivery job. It is impossible to survive on the delivery fees alone; customer tips are your lifeblood. The representatives who deal with the couriers tend to be very unhelpful - treat every situation as though you were on your own.
Pros
Flexible schedule
Cons
Pay is highly dependent on tips

Helpline worker do not help at all.
Courier (Former Employee) - Steinbach, MB - 11 June 2023
If you are having problems during the shift and you call the Courier Helpline numbers, most of the times they will tell you that they cannot fix the problem. They will also tell you that they do not have access to their supervisor if you would ever want to speak with them. Basically, they do not help the courier.
Pros
flexibly schedule

Enjoyable but not reliable
Skip the Dishes Courier (Current Employee) - Kingsville, ON - 1 June 2023
There were more orders when I first started, and it was a good part-time job. But Skip let too many drivers came into the area and there are not enough orders for all of us to make it worth the time and to live on. Now I need to look for work elsewhere unfortunately.

Poor management
Courier (Former Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 2 May 2023
The city is flooded with driver's, customers feel entitled to give little to no tip. If you work this job full time you will be working at a loss on slow days. The support team responds with automated texts that are no help to the courier. The base pay is a joke and they will cut into the drivers pay as much as possible. Over all it’s okay for some cash on the side but there are better companies to work for full time. ( I bought a 2018 corolla to drive skip, I think I’ll be better off driving for UBER as my vehicle qualifies for it.)
Pros
Schedule flexibility
Cons
As a driver you are easily replaceable

Okay.
Courier (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 21 April 2023
Overall, being a courier for Skip is okay as a second job or for someone who needs flexibility. But, Poor pay and Ware and tear on vehicle. not worth it. Simple job, though.

Not very consistent
Food Courier (Current Employee) - Burlington, ON - 20 February 2023
The shifts you get as well as pay fluctuates a lot. It is not very consistent and seems to get worse as they hire too many people and spread orders too thin. Even if you set your availability to many days you may still not get good shifts.

Skip
Courier (Former Employee) - Red Deer, AB - 19 January 2023
Skip the dishes right now is unfortunately very bad to work for you are making less than five dollars an hour being a subcontractor having to pay for all your own fuel insurance maintenance on your vehicle. This is not some thing I recommend anybody doing full-time because of health day Conduct their business
Pros
Good if you want to make 5 a hour
Cons
There system is completely effed up

Good second job
Courier (Current Employee) - Victoria, BC - 16 January 2023
As with any kind of food delivery you are at the mercy of the customers. You need to accept the fact that some days are better then others and you may have bad days and great days. Where this company fails is looking after the couriers who contract for them. They ignore your support requests when emailed. They do not care about you as you are 1000 percent expendable. They do not communicate changes that affect your pay until days after they implement it. Horribly run company but if you can deal with that it's a good second job.
Pros
Flexible schedule
Cons
Horrible support and communicatio

At times okay but definitely don't do this fulltime
Courier (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 22 December 2022
I started again after 3 years, at first it was okay, 4 hour shift would make somewhere between 80 to 100. Wintertime slows down not worth it now barely make 50 to 60. Gas prices fell and they slashed transit pay. If customer tips well they reduce transit pay, they also reduced the guaranteed top up. It's less than minimum wage, sometimes you wait 30 minutes for a restaurant and they pay you like 80 cents for the delay lol that's a joke. If you enjoy driving around listening to music might be worth doing but definitely you are not making decent money. After expenses and wear and tear less than minimum wage. Customer support is laughable.

Only worked from home.
Team Member Courier Care (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 19 November 2022
You are lucky if you are working with a good Team Leader. Otherwise, there is no one to give you a clear feedback on your work and how to progress and meet the required KPIs.
