Skip used to be great during the first few years that it was starting up, but it's now become very difficult to even make enough money during a shift to deem it worth it in the first place. In this economy, with these gas prices, a courier does not make nearly enough to consider going out for a shift even worth it. Most customers don't tip due to one bad experience they've had before you, which in turn ruins your ability to make any good money. Getting orders throughout a shift isn't very consistent now anymore either because of how many couriers have been hired and are thrown onto the same shift. This probably would be a good job for someone who is retired and looking for a job to make enough money to treat themselves to a nice dinner every week, but not even as a second job for someone who needs to make money to pay bills. Don't waste your time if you need the money, get a real job that will take into account your taxes at the same time.
Flexible schedule, work alone, paid direct deposit weekly
Small orders, unresponsive customers, not enough orders in a shift
Come work for skip if you want to waste your time and money. This is a very terrible job. There are too many drivers, it is so hard to wait for orders in the car specially in the winter time. Most people do not give tip and the transit pay is so low for a very far location. The management should limit drivers in one shift so drivers will have a lot of orders. It sucks getting orders at McDonalds, you usually wait atleast 10 minutes for an order.
Waste of time and money
You can make a living at this if you put your time and energy into it. I work seven days a week and get around 6 to 7 hundred a week. That’s not including fuel so take 100$ off and you’re still doing good. Even in times like this you can still make a good living.
...when you've been marked or flagged for asking, suggesting and saying your concerns (support/success team), skip life became so hard to a point you started begging to get an order. they have no regards to the couriers & affiliated restaurant staff/crews, and so sad, even for customers. Maybe probably not all, but in general, the entire Skip Team (management, couriers, restaurants, clients) falls apart.
it's just a good part time job & earn extra money with time flexibilty
very poor and rude customer support service
Skip the dishes is okay. It sucks getting lots of 5-6dollar delivery’s.. exspecially when they added McDonald’s. It’s easy on the body, and the app is easy to work with. Sucks being called pizza boy.
Doesn’t pay very well with high fuel prices, and low tips
HQ does not have a clue when it comes to it's couriers. With the cost of gas after you've paid for your gas, your earning's are less than a person working for the minimum wage. The Transport Fees are way out of wack. There aren't alot of tips, and repeat customers are few and far between. I have had some very good customers, but only once as there isn't an option for repeat business. Sometimes a shift is good, for example if you can average 2 delivers in an hour, and make 10.00 per deliver then it's worth it. Anything under that isn't. HQ has no clue when it comes to the logistics of what courier's do, nor do I understand how there system works. I can be sitting for an hour, then someone else will just come on shift, sitting at the same location, and they get a job before I do. If you don't care about earning good money, and are doing this just to earn extra cash, then yes it's okay. You don't always get the shifts you want either...so it's not as flexible as one might think.
once you get to know high traffic hours it's good
it's not that lucrative
You mostly work with customers and restaurants, rarely see coworkers. Sometimes you talk to the dispatchers, which are a hit or miss. I do enjoy this job, but I do not rely on it. The pay can be very dependent on so many factors - the time of day, what day of week, whether you're a main driver or on call, and where you are in the town. I can make anywhere from $50 to $100 in a 4 hour shift. The price of gas basically makes it a necessity to do this in a fuel mileage-friendly car. It does do wear and tear, and there's always the possibilities of accidents (none of this being covered by skip).
choose your own hours, easy
can be boring, income is varied
They should just name themselves SkipTheService.... MANY times will operators screw up order #'s or give you the incorrect delivery information. Late because of traffic? Call support line for help with directions? Too bad! get ready to be sidelined for the rest of the night. Or watch Operators hand pick the worst deliveries possible. Avoid this terrible, TERRIBLE company at all costs!
