The most useful review selected by IndeedThe company doesn’t know how to say stop we have enough drivers. Your luck to make 40.00 a shift unless you really hustle. Drivers are not compensated in anyway

Not good pay and dependent on tips. Ok first job for people starting out, but expense due to usage of automobile and fueling costs. Potential down time and not getting paid.

27 November 2023Thank you for taking the time to share your experience as an independently contracted courier with Skip. You mentioned downtime and the costs associated with vehicle maintenance, we are constantly looking for ways to improve the earning potential on the Skip network including improved delivery zones and order pooling. Please note that orders are assigned based on your GPS location while on shift, so we encourage couriers to move to a central location while on shift to maximize your orders. Thanks again for your efforts as a Skip courier!

Terrible attention to drivers
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 12 October 2023
Do not assign enough shifts, you are lucky if you get three hours a week. They want you to stay on Standby and you are expected to wait and see if something comes up. Don't even make min wage, never mind gas mileage. Concerns are always a blanket answer. They should be much more honest when you sign up. You will not make ends meet driving for them.
Pros
Work alone
Cons
Fuel and lack of shifts, disorganized App, emails only, can't talk to anyone.

Hardly worth it anymore
Food Courier (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 27 August 2023
Initially it was a good option to get additional income, but now, gas prices and maintenance costs make it hardly worth it to be driving around for ungrateful customers that hardly tip. Mileage payment is just not enough and you don't get paid for round trips which makes it hard to accept orders. This affects your acceptance rate and with it the amount of orders you are able to complete, and if you get below the 80% acceptance rate, the payment goes down. They should also be more specific on what customers complain about when you receive a poor rating as sometimes the problem relies when you get more than one order to deliver, the customer might get upset because their food took too long to get delivered, but the app sends you to deliver another order first, which is completely outside of the couriers control
Pros
Flexible hours
Cons
Not enough orders or small orders that do not tip well, high mileage and small pay per mile

Fun place to work
DevOps Engineer (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 11 August 2023
The office space is a fun and engaging place to work. There are some leadership issues in terms of direction of the company has changed but overall not a bad place

Good company
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 11 February 2023
It is good company to work with. If you want to become self employed it is for you. The pay is not that great but you can keep going with everyday expenses and little savings doing it.

Poor employee care
Courier Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 10 January 2023
If it wasn’t for the tips, you don’t make anything working for them. You can’t contact customer care through any phone call or chat unless you’re in an active delivery and even then they are no help. They use some sort of script to answer any and all concerns. It’s like talking to a bunch of incompetent robots that don’t have any solutions to problems. I had to deliver to a city on the outskirts of Calgary and after delivering I didn’t even get paid for it because they said I had no responded or picked up the food even though I had delivered it. They insisted that I needed to get them the exact time and date and location of the deliver as well as order number which I couldn’t get since the delivery had been taken away from me. Still no compensation. I asked multiple times to speak to someone who can understand and it was just the same scripted response over and over. Bless the people who tip but skip needs a whole new support team because they really suck.

Great for who wants to start career as delivery driver
Courier Driver (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 9 December 2022
Great job. Minimum wage but you are your own boss that’s a good thing. You have to work hard if you want a full time income thru skip the dishes. You have to pay for fuel by yourself that I don’t like

Easy work for part time students
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 25 November 2022
if your looking for a part time job as a student this job is good for you as you can be flexible with your work hours. The only downside is the inconsistent pay. This job is not something to do for a long time.

Found that the areas of service in Calgary were too large for my time allowance for part-time work.
Courier Driver (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 18 October 2022
Company interactions when there were issues with orders/communication were excellent. Always felt there was help and resolution fairly quickly. This company communicates very well with employees.

Make your own hours is nice
Driver (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 13 September 2022
I'm glad I started working part time for skip the dishes. It allowed me to work elsewhere at a place that had sparatic hours, so having the ability to custom my shifts was great .

Communication is key when working SKIP. There is room for growth and personal development and managers are generally interested in seeing you become better and grow at your job.

Great company culture, learning opportunities, career advancement.

Pros
Great work-life balance, learning opportunities, career advancement options
Cons
Middle management struggling at times. Vacation could be better

Small cars and flexible schedules will help
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 23 March 2022
Driving for Skip is like any other job. There are busy and good money making days. Then there is not. With rising gas prices, the km driven can work against you. Skip feedback and support are reliable and quick to respond. The biggest pet peeve is the rudeness of some fellow Skip drivers and their expectation to be served immediately. On the other hand the customer service is also lacking from the restaurant staff which can be downright non-existent. Overall the $ helps to pay the bills but business has not been as busy, for me, when everything reopened.

Very slow, but easy enough.
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 10 September 2021
Skip is very slow most days. Getting paid is not guaranteed so if you get no orders, you make no money. They offer nothing in terms of gas money or compensation when you don’t get orders. Most days I make between 8-10$ an hour, which is not nearly enough to get by. While Skip would be good as a side job, it is definitely not secure enough to have as your main employment.
Pros
Easy, make your own schedule
Cons
Very low pay, wears down on your vehicle, mundane

Good delivery options.
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 6 September 2021
Good company to work for if you need extra money. Sometimes it takes a while to get the orders, but once they start it is fine. I wish they compensated their drivers for the gas.
Pros
Schedule
Cons
No enough tips
