It’s alright

Indeed featured review

It’s not bad if u work hard but the gas price are too high and orders most of the time are ripped off. You should be picky on orders or else they’ll take advantage of you.

2 years too much

The company itself has grown in the last two years all except for the employees, seems like wages have decreased and there is way too many drivers, you’ll be on a shift and end up declining all the orders because you become dependant on customer tips, shouldn’t be the customer responsibility to make sure workers are compensated fairly for the amount of work, 25 minutes for $3.49 and my gas no thanks

Pros

Your own hours

Cons

Heavy lack of everything you expect from this type of job

Flexible hours

Can put your own hours. Flexible to work any time. Only thing is too many drivers so you have to put lot hours to make money. Have to work 7 days a week to make good money

Skip The Dishes

Skip the dishes was the first courier job I have done. With the whole driving throughout the greater Toronto area I was able to see many interesting places. But when it comes to the pay I always seem to stop getting orders when I reach 50$.

Cons

Poor payment

Flexible

Not paid enough when doing a long distance order.Therefor their system is not fair. Though, work is flexible, can create your own schedule and shifts can easily be canceled.

9Good part time job only.

Should be provided with car insurance coverage. Courier bags should be free of charges. Good part time job; helps you pay for your home bills and utilities.

Freeing job with considerable pay

For a company that hires many people, SkipTheDishes does a pretty fair job of paying them all decently. Your work/life balance will be exceptional, you are allowed to choose basically all of your shifts. However, you will only just be staying afloat because most days you will make a bit over or under minimum wage per hour, considering most shifts are 4 hours.

Pros

Freedom

Cons

Low pay

Flexible hours, low pay

The job as a food courier is very flexible. However, the pay does not match the amount of hours and gas one has to spend on the job. Additionally, since one must drive their own car, maintenance costs also ramp up over time.

Warning your insurance company will not cover you

Ok. Short story cause there is nothing much to say about this company. Drove in Brampton and Mississauga for three weeks and I was not able to break or hit the minimum wage of $14hr per hour. The most I got was $13.50 without expenses and income tax deductions. This gig is really made for very very desperate people looking for money. Skip is very popular with new comers who basically will not cry at $10 an hour. I call this gig modern slavery meaning a new comer moving for a better life but ends up slaving for no more then $13 an hour to make the company richer. But the most important part is there is a BIG chance your insurance company will not cover you during your shifts. I will repeat myself YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY WILL NOT COVER YOU. You get into an accident during your shift and they find out which they will you are be out of luck. Some companies will insure you but be prepared to pay at least $145 or more per month.

Pros

New modern slavery

Cons

You are the slave

Not worth it

Been working for a few months. Was somewhat worth it in the beginning, but now apparently you only get paid for the distance from the resturant to the customers house. So basically they do not care about the drivers and want them to work for free. And if you work in Brampton, don't expect to get tips

Pros

Work when you want

Cons

Extremley low pay

Working as Courier

Working in Skip the Dishes can be beneficial but there is a down side too. The beneficial is you can get extra paid aside from your full time job. However, as a courier it may be scam because when it comes to cash, some people are abusing it as an example, when they only have $100, and company rule say only bring 60 dollars. Don't work for Skip the Dishes, on weekdays, or weekend (sometimes not busy) you will be earning less if you work within the area Brampton and Mississauga and people don't give you tips and it waste of my time and fuel of the car.

Cons

Lots of Scams

Hopeless

Not a good place to work. You will be offered very less shift and making under minimum wage . Better find another place. Loosing on long term. Don't recommend for new driver.

Not worth it at all

Signed up to be a driver in January. Bags were not available until Feb. I had to wait a whole month to get a bag and then start my first shift. The first few weeks were okay where I made $93 on one shift. As the weeks passed, I was getting less shifts only to realize that they are constantly advertising for drivers. Well here I am today with no shifts for the past two weeks and not one bad review. Makes you wonder about their business model and who they are rewarding the shifts to. Anyhow, they get you coming and going long distances in some cases and you're rewarded with a paltry tip. I forgot to mention that my area is brampton. Many of the customers in the area are REALLY CHEAP! if you work the Brampton area, you know what I'm talking about. That being said, if you want some beer money once a month, then this might work for you, otherwise, forget it. Not worth the time you invest.

Pros

Visit new Restaurants and try them out when you have time

Cons

Lack of shift, route planning sucks, and wear on vehicle

The worst possible part time delivery work

I started as definitely part time. I am free for around 5 hours in day times and free from 6pm to 12 am every day. For last one month I got only 5 days shift ( 3 hours each shift)after giving availability around 4-5 hours (consecutive) in daytime and 6 hours (consecutive) at night time. Lots of courier are already in the market. So its not worthy even to buy their bag by 74$. Most of the time you need to drive a long but paid as low as possible. I drive in Brampton, GTA area. And I don't wanna disclose why?? but 50% of the customers in Brampton area here don't bother about 1$ tips even. I think the resident of Brampton can easily understand why these specific customers group do that. Anyway, I am gonna quit this stupid courier job soon. And I can say its total worthless.

Pros

You can practice the driving if you are new driver as a courier.

Cons

They whole thing

The honest review

If you are looking to work for Skip-The-Dishes I would say the best times to do so is during the winter season where people do not want to leave their homes or drive. During this season the likelihood of you getting tips are much higher but this also depends on the demographics of the region you deliver. (Some groups from what I noticed at least tend to be more generous than others) Tips are the "make or break" of this job so you should not pursue or perceive working for this company on a long-term or full-time basis. It just isn't worth it. During the winter season, I average from about $17-21/hr and I would work Friday-Sunday evenings. Now as summer is approaching I average $11-15/hr. Yes, it could go even below minimum wage on certain shifts which is why after giving it a couple days I quit. The reason as to why I left this company is due to their poor business practices. Recently, gas prices have hit it's all-time high of $1.32 per L the transit pay they provide will not even cover the cost of gas consumption for the kilometers spent from picking up the food and delivering to the customer. Their rates would merely cover half. Another is regarding travel distance their system (or so they say) would match you with orders within the area. However, it does not put into account what is efficient for you. I would often have to refuse orders as they are unreasonably far away especially when the customer does not even tip. Your dispatch is practically useless since they only answer general inquiries or may give the customer a call for order delays. Overall, -

Pros

Flexibility

Cons

Poor management, low compensation, Brampton sucks.

Mediocre at Best

I am a courier driver full time, Monday to Friday, for a large company. I know the roads, understand customer service when delivering, and overall enjoy driving. When Skip was first advertised to me, I figured it would be a good fit given my experience and availability. I have been a Skip Courier for 7 weeks now in Brampton, ON. Since my very first shift I have kept track of EVERYTHING on a spread sheet. These are real numbers based on my 7 weeks. I have completed exactly 30 shifts, an average of 4 hours per shift (some 3, some 5). I have only been doing this on weekends and the odd weeknight. From the 30 shifts worked (120 hrs), I have done 189 orders. I've earned $1,890.96, average of $10 per order (delivery fee and tips). I have put on 2,379km and I average $0.79 per km. In my car, I average $0.15 per km in gas. Wear and tear is not included in my numbers. This is a job. It's not necessarily easy (it is for me based on my exp). Do not expect to make much, or to support yourself full time. The app is very easy and user friendly, few glitches, but to be expected. The support team is useless. I assume it is a team of minimum wage employees who have never been a courier at any point in their life. My real world average income is $15.75 per hour, MINUS fuel, wear and tear, insurance (if you're honest), and phone use (if you go above and beyond your usual usage). I have yet to receive any tickets, but I assume it will come eventually. Couriers are at the mercy of the customers tips. The delivery fee alone IS NOT ENOUGH for anyone. Wait times at restaurants really -

Pros

Flexible, Consistent

Cons

Low Wage, Fighting for hours with others, Support Team
