Personal Support Worker (Former Employee) – Newmarket, ON – 16 December 2017
Hearkening back to the groovy days, when dudes smoked while they worked with volatile combustibles. Walls adorned with naked broads, and when if it ain't white it ain't right. Ah yes, the good old days are alive and well and the good old boys are at the helm.
It's a family business. The first walk through the building is an introduction to most of the employees. Each one will be pointed out as either having a surname which matches that of the company or not. Even distinguishing between blood and married relatives in an attempt to establish the overall "value" of the person.
Employment here is about connections with those who are of "value". Your actual experience and skills will be secondary to these connections. No loyalty to the unconnected.
Remuneration is at or below average depending on position. After a 90 day probationary period the employer will match up to $100 per month into an RRSP, vacation pay is 4% of gross in lieu of time and both are slightly escalating with tenure. Group benefits are paid by the company.
