There are good and Bad with this company but the good is 75%

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Skelton is a good company to work for, in that the pay is very good, full paid training, very light boxes, Trucks are always taken care of at the first sign of issues, raises are possible but advancement is not usaly available as is with most Truck driving. Because of the cargo it gives you a good sense of accompishment and helping others. the downside is a lot of long hours, the cargo has to be kept at a certain temperature and if it goes out of temp there is a huge issue, the paperwork is the worst part of this job, after driving the paperwork finishing can take up to an additonal 2 hours and must be sent in electronicly daily. The Covid 19 pandemic took a toll on my health and was forced to leave but would recomend this company to anyone that wants to work for a solid company.

Pros

Saftey Bonuses, Very nice hotels, very good pay

Cons

long hours, extreme stress, must be available 24 hours a day

Truly exactly what I thought it would be

Working at Skelton truly is it's own experience. The culture is fantastic! Everyone works well together. Management is always open to hearing any input you have. Equipment is top notch. Pay is fantastic. Miles and hours are always there. If you are looking for that old school vibe with great pay and equipment, this is the place. If you are looking for a place to be heard, this is your place. If you are looking to work for a company that values it's employees, this is your place.I'd also like to note Skelton is a leader when it comes to women in the work place. So many women in both management, non-management and driver roles.Average tenure is 5 years and 90% referral rate for both office and drivers.... that should tell you enough. If you can find a way to get in to Skelton do it, do it NOW!

Pros

Company Clothing, Kitchen, Culture, Pay, Management

Cons

Can be fast-paced so make sure you are up for that.

Excellent Company

My experience with Skelton Truck was excellent. They are a very fast paced company with plenty of work to do. The office trained me very well and the equipment I used was top notch. I used to work an incredible amount of hours, to the point of maxing my trucking hours daily. However, they were incredibly flexible, and willing to make things work.

Pros

Amazing staff

Cons

Long hours

1970's Time Machine

Hearkening back to the groovy days, when dudes smoked while they worked with volatile combustibles. Walls adorned with naked broads, and when if it ain't white it ain't right. Ah yes, the good old days are alive and well and the good old boys are at the helm. It's a family business. The first walk through the building is an introduction to most of the employees. Each one will be pointed out as either having a surname which matches that of the company or not. Even distinguishing between blood and married relatives in an attempt to establish the overall "value" of the person. Employment here is about connections with those who are of "value". Your actual experience and skills will be secondary to these connections. No loyalty to the unconnected. Remuneration is at or below average depending on position. After a 90 day probationary period the employer will match up to $100 per month into an RRSP, vacation pay is 4% of gross in lieu of time and both are slightly escalating with tenure. Group benefits are paid by the company.

Pros

Free coffee

Arbitrary wage reduction

Small & Quiet Company

Always busy, everyone was focused on daily tasks, not a lot of socializing. Family owned & run company. A lot of the original staff still working there, not a lot of turn around.

The people were for the most part welcoming

Was highly disorganized work place, and training was inadequate. Most of my co-workers were pleasant and helpful. On the whole it was a good learning experience.

Pros

barbeques and lunches

Cons

Disorganized
