Non-unionized employees don't matter
As far as I saw the residents are treated well as they should be. But it's a lonely place to work until you develop a thick skin. The union basically runs the place because they hold the employees. So if your position is non-unionized then expect minimum wage and hardly any benefits. But you can expect pity and some friendliness from staff if you learn early to grovel for them. Work in healthcare is meaningful and I learned a lot but at some point you have to care for yourself because they won't bother.

Dysfunction At Its Finest
Initially I thought I was joining a good group of people to work with. However over I was only on the job a day or two before I realized I was joining a typical big corporate culture company. The number one focus is making money and not providing quality care to seniors. I am one of a long lineup of maintenance men who has attempted to turn the department around, only to he met with harsh opposition and chastising by my fellow leadership team.

Toxic work culture
I was very much unsupported in my role and felt sorry for the residents who lived there as the environment is toxic. Non of the management seemed to know what the others were doing and lack of communication was apparent. Management and reception made so many mistakes with every contact that I doubted them right from the get go. There is a lot of walking and your on your feet all day in a hot building so be prepared to sweat! Not all other employees play nice so beware. Very little English was spoken among staff which was frustrating. Constantly hiring and turn over is huge.

Lots of things to learn and adopt.
I am very happy to get opportunity to learn so many things from this organization. Staff was very helpful. Very professional attitude towards junior staff.

Always looking to make money
Habit of letting people go before year end so they don’t have to pay out bonus for leadership roles but they get the work out of the employees. Job security is non existent as well as sound leadership. All about the money. Run fast from this company before you are just another statistic
