Too many insecure managers

Too many insecure managers and will lie to make them succeed. New to bring different managers into the organization after many years of bulling employees. If you dont kiss butt you will be terminated.

One of the few best companies

This is one of the best companies I worked for. Everyone is ready to go an extra step in order to help others and support each others. One of the biggest advantages is working from home. Also, there is great work-life balance.

Never forget you're just a number.

Siemens Canada offers a lot of great benefits. Be aware when you apply / interview that there are multiple divisions in Canada (Healthineers, Smart Infrastructure, Digital Industries, Corporate, Real Estate, Software, etc etc) and that each division has it's own rules, benefits, and standards of employment. There are stock options, an excellent benefits program, good pay, and a bonus structure (if you qualify). There are lunches and breakfasts and holiday parties. The people are really, really great. Depending on the division, Siemens offers great work-life balance (working from home, flex hours etc) but that depends on your role. If you are in any type of Management function, you are expected to work overtime (12 hour days are not unusual) without complaining, and don't even think about going on vacation without your company phone. Opportunities for advancement depend on the division, and your manager can block you, if he chooses to. Collaboration between divisions is non-existent, and sometimes even in divisions, tech and sales don't get along. The inside joke is that "the Siemens way" means no training when you start a new job or get new responsibilities, you're just expected to figure it out. This isn't a start up. This is an established company where Management preaches a "speak up" culture, but it doesn't really exist. You may be able to wear jeans on Fridays, but this is still a really corporate environment with a lot of red tape and rules. At the end of the day, you're just a number.

A great workplace and amazing staff.

Siemens is a company that goes above and beyond to give employees challenging projects and also provides trust and support to help them meet those challenges successfully. While it offers benefits and perks like any modern creative company, Siemens is a culture that trusts that its employees will strive to do their very best work. Employees are also given stock options so that they know they have both a stake and reward in the company’s success. As for the benefits, Siemens staff are spoiled with flexible hours and vacation days, healthcare coverage, and extended parental leave – not to mention company outings and lunches.

Siemens Canada

Typical Day at work is priority of many tasks. Work hard but not always rewarding but education opportunities are good. Project control and resource allocation to get projects done on time is stressful and sometimes unreasonable.

Pros

Good People

Cons

Long Hours

Secure job with excellent training

Great company to work for. The hiring process was a little long and getting started seemed a little unorganized, but I had the best bosses ever! The job role itself was a little dry, but my team was so good that I didn't mind.

Pros

Management, cafeteria

Cons

Repetitive

A good workplace

It is a good place to work. They promote work-life balance and give the opportunity to work from home to their employees. Siemens is also involved in a lot of charity work and initiatives to support the community, which is very positive.

Pros

Strong support of charitable causes (Cystic Fibrosis, Food Drives)

Cons

Long hours, low pay

Great place to work, learn, and develop.

After spending almost 10 years working in Siemens in two countries, I can comfortably say it is one of the best places to work, specially when I compare with what I hear from counterparts in other companies working in the same business field. The typical day at work would usually be a new small interesting challenge, going through it with a fun team to work with, and nicely rewarding at the end. Diversity is a big thing in Siemens AG, which makes it even more interesting of a company to work with, I learnt a lot from my management and from my diverse colleagues, on both sides, professional and personal. However, in such a competitive business environment of today, one needs a lot of self motivation, ambition and determination to cope up with this fast pace of modern days.

Pros

Excellent on-job training programs, a lot of fun events.

Big Company so learning is slow

Siemens is a brand name. However the company is so big that the work is limited to your responsibilities. If you want to learn something new then its difficult to get the right opportunities.

Pros

brand name

Cons

very less learning

Great Work / Home Balance

Great work and home balance. Overall culture very good and management support good. Only issue is advancement opportunities are few and far between for Canadian positions in the organization. Must travel overseas for other opportunities within the company.

Great place to work with work/life balance

Great place to work with work/life balance. Large global company with multiple divisions. Ownership of issues was sometimes difficult to determine because of the size and wide range of duties. Mostly a good work culture.

Wonderful place to be at all times

Every single day working here was a treat. The people are amazing and the facilities are top notch. Being a large company, there is also a lot of opportunity to move around and explore avenues you may be interested in.

Company culture

Changes happen all the time, good or bad, strategic or political, depends on which Business unit you work. Some groups have very stable workforce while some groups have very high turn-over rate.
