AN older nursing home needing a lot of care of it own. Typical of most, work is heavy and short staff more often then not. Union pay and benefits. No real staff extras.

Wonderful people working at Shoreham

It was a great place to work.. Shoreham employees are the best, caring, hardworking and loyal to their people. Everyday you could see the pride anyone takes in doing their job.a few laughs along the way

Terrible. Their union is in cohoots with management

Terrible conditions and work morale related to pettiness of coworkers, being short-staffed, unfair management, and a weak and biased union. It’s time oriented, not patient care. Favouritism is the norm so no matter how qualified, responsible, and conscientious one is, it doesn’t help your work reviews nor your advancement. Management has changed several times since 2012, each time getting worse.

Busy job but rewarding

This job was rewarding working with seniors and finding a solution to fit their needs, always looking to stretch the dollar a little further. Longer hours were sometimes required.

awful place

not a very good place to work. it would be a better place if they had new management. Alot of good workers left because of management. so many good workers would come back if there were new management. But as long as they still have the same management there shoreham will not have a very good name.Its a sin that all these good workers are leaving and no one is asking management why all these good workers are leaving. you think they would clue in.The cca's are always short and over worked and people that enjoy being a cca leave there hating their job which is very sad. I hope they soon do something so shoreham can be a nice and loving work place again. PLEASE GET NEW MANAGEMENT

Need new management

I would not recommend anyone to work there. The workers are over worked and underpaid. They need new management because the ones that are there now dont care they are only care about the pay check and their vacations that they take all the time. To the management the cca's is only a number to them and nothing more. They are always working short and they lost alot of good workers because of the management not caring .

Terrible place to work. Not only do the residents not get the care they deserve, the staff is sneaky and dramatic and talks about everyone behind their back constantly. This place almost ruined my love for this career.

Not a good place to work

Continuing Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Chester, NS - 27 September 2018

Time cantered Care and not client centred, they are always changing rules and not knowing if they are coming or going. Poor communication between management and staff. Being new people will talk behind your back but nice to your face so watch your back. The management plays favouritism as they are best friends with some of the employees and will go above and beyond for them but you won’t get the same treatment no matter how hard you work for them and pick up because they are short staffed. There is a high turn over rate right now and so many people are leaving because it is so full of drama and disorganized.
