Reviews about Pay & benefits for Pharmacy Manager at Shoppers Drug Mart

Used to be a good company not anymore

The leadership of this company is going down the gutters. Over the last few years the company has lost some veteran and extremely capable executives at the national and provincial level. The current ones are utterly incapable. Take BC for instance, this is a province that used to grow year over year, but currently has declined and stagnated and in many areas has declined significantly. This is mainly due to ineffectual leadership of the region by the VP who in turn appointed district managers and associates who are to her liking only rather than actual ability or aptitude to deliver results or create motivation. As an employee and based on direct dealings with my associate, I saw some the most despicable actions you'd expect from someone at that level. This associate would load hours on your payroll that you didn't actually work, gets the company to pay for it and share the loot in cash with his coerced staff. It's nice that the taxes were deducted from the shared loot. Utterly despicable! I heared horror stories about other associates from other stores having indecent relations with cosmeticians, paying personal expenses from the company coffers or worse being obnoxious to some of their staff until they committed suicide. HR is non existent, totally! They have in BC an useless ape of an HR consultant that whose job is basically to advise the associates/managers on how to fire unengaged (another word for disgruntled) staff rather than actually resolving issues and getting staff on board with real motivation. Now let's check pay. SDM consistently pays their pharmacists -
