The job is secure, the problem is the head office and some owners
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) - Vaughan, ON - 28 April 2023
Head Office will always want more from you, more work but less hrs., so you will end up with no people but a ton of work to do. Salary and benefits, they need to do better, salary is very very slow to go up, they will just go with the minimum wage or just a little bit on top of for regular employees like cashiers or merchandiser. For management, they will give you the minimum for what ever the shoppers wage grid is and good luck asking the owners all the time. Employees should not ask for a good raise, they shouldn't be begging for it, specially the hard working employees. And the way the minimum changes, it will already caught up to some employees that waited so many years just to get the $16 or $17 salary. No wonder people always leave shoppers and find other job that can keep with cost of leaving
Cons
Salary and Benefits are not enough, and all they do is cut hours until you end up with no more employees

It’s like working in fast food only cleaner.
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - Woodstock, ON - 21 October 2022
Since Loblaws took over jobs have been cut leaving existing staff to pick up the slack without any extra compensation. There are tedious tasks constantly while paying attention to customers. Like all retail, Christmas is a nightmare. Like most jobs, they don’t care about you.
Pros
Usually not confined to one space, free to move around the store.
Cons
It gets busy.
