it was very fun and you learn alot of skills. Its a great starting job. You get paid minimum wage and the people i worked with are very nice. It can get tiring but the work is nice overall.

Work culture and bias

There is a work culture bias and disrespectful. Instead of talking about how to improve, top managers point and finger others in front of others. Top managers never follow managements systems, they create micromanagement and gossip. There is no confidential information kept into company. Top managers shared confidential information with other including salary, marriage status, personal information and address.

Pros

Break time

Cons

Heavy lifting

Fun but lacking pay and management

Decent starter job but no real room for long term growth, will give yearly pay raises below industry standard and make it sound like they are bending over backwards

Was okay, hours sucked

Was okay hours were inconsistent and so was the schedule. Customers are often rude but merchandising was okay. Overall a definite negative experience.

Pros

Breaks

Cons

Decent job

Okay job as a student. Decent experience but was let go due to not being able to work minimum 30 hours as a part time job. I was not given a chance to increase my hours, they had simply just let me go. As a 15 year old this was definitely not the best way to handle the situation.

Not great

Minimum wage with no raises, a lot of work for one person. Management is cliquey and usually hires personal family and friends. Stores are short staff and a lot of customer are not happy with policies.

Great staff to work with, bad management

The great staff is the only good part to this job. Understaffed most of the time, tasks not being given out correctly resulting in conflict, asking too much of employees without any compensation or barely any recognition for hard work. The “higher ups” are also hard to deal with. Most staff not wanting to go to them with issues as they will be not listened to, be ignored or be spoken with like they’re stupid & in a rude manner.

Great place to work

Worked here while going to school. It was a great part-time job due to the flexible hours. The enjoyed working with the team and the pay was to be expected for retail.

High demand and stressful job

Working at Shoppers Drug Mart has been an incredibly challenging experience, and I regret to say that it falls far short of being a satisfying job.The work-life balance is almost non-existent, and the relentless demands to meet targets are nothing short of overwhelming. The compensation offered is disheartening, considering the immense effort required to keep up with the job's demands.Although the management at my store is commendable, it's the only silver lining in an otherwise gloomy picture. While I generally enjoy working with most of the staff, the level of support you receive is inconsistent, largely dependent on the whims of the owner or store manager. The job itself is nothing short of all-consuming. You're expected to wear numerous hats, including team management, merchandise handling, sales, social media marketing, event planning, cosmetician recruitment, customer service, and more. You must also be prepared to assist customers with self-checkout and ring up carts of front store products since supervisors and cashiers often get pulled away. The high-pressure environment is mentally tormenting, and the physical toll is draining. With limited breaks to complete your daily tasks as a cosmetician manager, the job becomes increasingly taxing. And the challenge of hiring suitable team members for the cosmetics department is another stressor, as the results can vary greatly. Some hires are a true asset, while others disappoint by calling in sick, failing to meet targets, or neglecting their responsibilities. In summary, while there are occasional glimpses of positivity, -

Just need a job

It’s ok to work here, better off somewhere else with potential opportunities for growth. It’s not easy moving up. Stagnant job. Flexible hours, easy job, low stress

Ok for some experience in retail

Not much to say other than ok . Friendly colleagues and ok management. Customers can be annoying but that’s expected with general public. Hours are ok and also reliable. Paid on time I too

Productive and fun place to work with

Good starting job to begin with if you looking for a part time job to cover expenses. The management team is flexible and willing to schedule your shift base on your availability.

Pros

Staff discount program

Cons

Not much full time opportunities

Good for part time

worked for here for three years. Management techniques can vary but for the most part this job is good for a part time roll. Wouldn’t suggest taking supervising positions as they have much more responsibilities for a dollar more of pay

Good discount, flexible schedule

It has a good discount, the staff are nice, the management are nice as well they're easy to talk too. But there's not much career advancement, the pay is average

Nice place

My store specially is great for me to work at. The management has favoritisms and it can be hard to get shifts. But if you are nice to them, they are nice to you too

Pretty chill, depends on managment

My location was quite small so I wasn't often overwhelmed with a long line of customers, the job isn't too demanding apart from the standing. Depends on managment

Good company to work for

Good company with excellent benefits, and good support system for managers, but associate owners can be hit and miss, some are fantastic, others less so…

Favouritism and not fairness towards all employees

Some staffs are very rude to work with. Stressful and demanding workplace Not appreciative management team, they will ignore your concern when bought up. They Deduct money off the payroll for the staff Christmas party

Pros

Sometimes we get free coffee

Cons

Not getting paid or appreciated for working longer
