Good staff
Cosmetician (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 30 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI really enjoyed all the training and courses provided to the cosmetics department, however I think hiring management needs improvement. It seems a lot of the time they’re too invested in what you do in your free time and your personal life, and they can be quite intimidating.

Fun for Retail
Front Store Supervisor (Former Employee) - Kamloops, BC - 27 November 2023
Shoppers is definitely a great employer if you’re looking for flexibility and a great team of coworkers. You get to build on skills in different departments to find your niche.

Jobs at Shoppers Drug Mart
Fun but lacking pay and management
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Cambridge, ON - 24 November 2023
Decent starter job but no real room for long term growth, will give yearly pay raises below industry standard and make it sound like they are bending over backwards

Good Place to Get Experience!
Pharmacy Assistant (Former Employee) - Waterloo, ON - 16 November 2023
I got my first job as a pharmacy assistant here after completing a volunteer co-op placement in highschool. The team and manager were excellent. They are always understanding of employees and very supportive! They offer a decent wage as well for young people.

Bad leaders that are friends with each other
Manager (Former Employee) - North York, ON - 7 November 2023
Many ppl in the business are friends promoting each other to move up without allowing much growth for new employees. Many folks are great and fun to work with but sadly leadership is awful without much vision for growth.

High demand and stressful job
Cosmetic Manager (Current Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 3 November 2023
Working at Shoppers Drug Mart has been an incredibly challenging experience, and I regret to say that it falls far short of being a satisfying job. The work-life balance is almost non-existent, and the relentless demands to meet targets are nothing short of overwhelming. The compensation offered is disheartening, considering the immense effort required to keep up with the job's demands. Although the management at my store is commendable, it's the only silver lining in an otherwise gloomy picture. While I generally enjoy working with most of the staff, the level of support you receive is inconsistent, largely dependent on the whims of the owner or store manager. The job itself is nothing short of all-consuming. You're expected to wear numerous hats, including team management, merchandise handling, sales, social media marketing, event planning, cosmetician recruitment, customer service, and more. You must also be prepared to assist customers with self-checkout and ring up carts of front store products since supervisors and cashiers often get pulled away. The high-pressure environment is mentally tormenting, and the physical toll is draining. With limited breaks to complete your daily tasks as a cosmetician manager, the job becomes increasingly taxing. And the challenge of hiring suitable team members for the cosmetics department is another stressor, as the results can vary greatly. Some hires are a true asset, while others disappoint by calling in sick, failing to meet targets, or neglecting their responsibilities. In summary, while there are occasional glimpses of positivity, -

Generally a good place to work. Unstaffed and that was stressful for the remaining people.

Overworked and underpaid. High expectations and non-stop activity.Advancement opportunities were there but only to a certain degree. Luckily this store had friendly customers, in general.
Pros
Good team. Supportive manager.
Cons
Work load, understaffed

Just need a job
Cashier (Former Employee) - Cowansville, QC - 2 November 2023
It’s ok to work here, better off somewhere else with potential opportunities for growth. It’s not easy moving up. Stagnant job. Flexible hours, easy job, low stress

Awful place to work
Merchandiser (Current Employee) - Nova Scotia - 28 October 2023
Next to no life work balance. Always short staffed because they’re ‘cutting hours’ so deadlines for stock completion is never met, yet employees are blamed for this

Good discount, flexible schedule
Cashier Manager (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 25 October 2023
It has a good discount, the staff are nice, the management are nice as well they're easy to talk too. But there's not much career advancement, the pay is average

Decent place to get a start
Clerk (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 23 October 2023
Really depends on the manager that you have to get a better grasp of the work environment. it's a very relaxed job with low stress, I'd recommend it. Not much room for career advancements.

Horrilble company to work for
Postal Clerk (Former Employee) - Grande Prairie, AB - 19 October 2023
Not being trained properly. Being demeaned in front of customers and having them vocalize it. Working over my 8 hour shift multiple times and not getting paid for it. it was adjusted on the time clock back to eight hours. Being called in and counting your float, only to be terminated for invalid reasons. Shoppers uses to be be a good company to work for. Not anymore

Good company to work for
Front Store Manager (Former Employee) - Abbotsford, BC - 17 October 2023
Good company with excellent benefits, and good support system for managers, but associate owners can be hit and miss, some are fantastic, others less so…
