Very stressful
Stressful and intense environment. Not enought staff and breaks are inappropriate. You give an idea to help company to head office. They steal it and no recognition. When you work you get all late shifts and every holiday. Lots of favoritism.
Front store assistant manager in Runnymede, ON

Felt used because I was a hard worker.
So micromanaged. Can’t have opinions. Every store is just a cookie cutter clone. Can’t be creative. Managers aren’t really managers. Just somebody to take fall for anything that goes wrong.
Merchandiser and Cashier in Scarborough, ON

Stressful and Overworked
Now that we have self-checkouts. We are forced to send them to the self-checkouts if they are paying with Debit/Credit/Gift Card to meet the daily target of SCO %. Many stores cut back on staff and hours. You're expected to get several tasks done but, you also need to help customers on the floor. There's only so much one person can do in a day but, they expect you to get everything done. Terrible experiencez

Had a good time working here
Worked here for two years, loved working with the staff. Started off as a cashier then did merchandising. At the start, working on cash was hard but I eventually got used to it. Received help whenever I needed it. Was treated like a part of the family. Had to leave because of my studies.

My experience at Shoppers Drug Mart was breath-taking as I learned to handle time and work efficiently because of its fast-paced environment.
I worked at Shoppers Drug Mart part-time where I learned inventory management, customer service, non-sterile compounding and filling and processing of prescriptions.

Interview questions

“Are you available to work *insert shift hours*?” “What are your strengths?” “What are your weaknesses?” That was literally it. The interview was less than 10 minutes.

Shared on 3 August 2022

I had my interview today and it was fairly straight forward. I handed each of the people a copy of my resume and they went through each of my previous jobs to get an idea of what it is I did at each one. They weren't looking for specifics but more of an idea of my level of customer interaction. After that I was asked what hours I was available to work, if I was okay learning how to use a P.O.S. machine and lottery machine, the process of how to ask for Optimum cards and then if I was okay lifting things. It's less of an interview and more of a last check to see if you'll be a right fit and then letting you know more specifics of what you'll be doing.
