Client Support Worker in Halifax, NS

Great place to work, can be dangerous and rewarding. Helping the homeless is the main structure of the facility. Staff appreciation of good. Finding housing is a big part.

difficult working conditions. do not recommend this place. HR is no help. Staff are out for themselves. Not to work as a team. Conflicting information in their training. and what they expect from you in the workplace.
Case Manager Addictions and Mental Health in Halifax, NS

Hard work, tough clients. You have to love what you do. Some of the shelter locations are easier than others, such as the sober living facilities. Those who work in addictions have a different clientele.

Great place where people put people first
Working with Shelter Nova Scotia is amazing. The people who work there are really focused on helping those who need it. I learned a lot in my short time there so far, and I would definitely recommend anyone who has the ability to, to definitely get involved with this organization.

Client Support Assistant
• Maintain client support of 75—80 men in crisis and homelessness in a shelter (staffed with as little as two support staff or as many as five support staff at any given time). • Defuse hostility within the shelter; providing light counselling and referrals to other organizations based on individual needs of clients • Maintenance of facility, house cleaning, providing light meals/snacks to residents, enforcing house rules/guidelines/boundaries Over all, it was a rewarding position as I got to see people at their most vulnerable point, and I got to watch some people pick themselves back up to a strong point, in which they were able to start supporting themselves again.
