Decent job but hard work in hot environment

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Decent pay an overtime available but the work is hard and the environment is very hot. It is also slightly dangerous as hest exhaustion is a regular occurrence. There is also no raises for seniority and no room for job advancements or promotion..

Good work environment and the people were awesome

Shearers was a great place to work. The people on my shift were great and I miss them all. Only reason I left was cause I moved out of the city but would definitely reapply if I move back.

Sooo unorganized

The pt workers who are expected to help organize the lines and make sure they are running smoothly really only know anything about the packaging department and just yell at the oven workers when they need things done. The communication is lacking, management is nonexistent when it comes to how to actually do the job they just yell at you the safely guidelines wether they make sense or not. The production technician working line six is not someone who should be in charge of people

Its good but was for me

Its a good place to work but the owen room are usually quite hot. The supervisors are great and the hr department as well. But its not for those who like slow paced jibs

Clean and Great pay with Great Benefits

Wokring at Shearer's Foods was a fun and clean place to work. Not to mention they are all about food health and saftey of saftey practice for their employees. Met lots of nice people and of course you get the sour apples in the bunch. Miss working here. Can be fast paced but once you learn the jobs than it gets easier and it's fine. They pay for your lunch breaks, saftey shoes/boots, and saftey glasses. The benefits are amazing! Be prepared to do lots of change overs and lots of cleaning proto calls. Managment is alright, of course depening on your shift. They wear company uniforms, and have temps that work here. That was how I was hired on. You will get two 20 minunutes payed breaks, yes not very long but hey, it's paid! Get your foot in the door and won't regret it.

Pros

Paid Lunche Breaks

Cons

Lay offs and holiday begins with seniority IE how long you have been with the company

Warehouse worker

Steer clear, worse company I have ever worked for and the management are terrible, if you want your life sucked out of you apply. HR isn’t always fair and turns a blind eye to issues that need resolving. The company needs a complete change of management and start over or get a union in to sort the toxic environment.

Pros

Overtime available

Cons

Overall terrible place to work

Fun workplace

Gossipy work place, different nationalities. Works okay, nice that the work rotates every half an hour. Night shift people were snobby. Day people were helpful.

Pros

Free lunches

Cons

No communication

Better then Linamar

It’s not a bad place to work. It’s clean. Most of the employees are good, there are few that you want to get rid of. Management are quite ok. Pay is competitive but it should be a bit more.

Pros

Clean place. Work is alright. Coworkers are great.

Cons

Pay could be better.

Great work environment

The pay is a little lacking but the work is pretty relaxing compared to most labour jobs, the biggest issue is lay offs, they come every year and if you're new your getting cut.

Pros

Positive work environment

Cons

Job security, pay

Toxic

This manufacturer provides a toxic work enviroment for it's employees. Turn over of personelle is extremely high, and for good reason. Management needs a reboot.

It was ok.

Good pay, bad hours. Bunch of workers laid off prematurely for changing clients and didn't tell me beforehand. I showed up for work and they said there isn't work for anyone anymore, why are you here? Thanks, traveled over 50 km one way to be told that.

Fast Paced, Opportunity for Advancement

It was a great place to work with opportunity for advancement and always so much to learn. With the right attitude, you are able to move up. It's a typical factory job and it gets hot but the atmosphere is good for factory work.

Unfortunate

Worked there for a while and it wasn't too bad until a couple safety concerns came up and because I reported it They wanted to let me to take less shifts until they just didn't call me for anymore shifts.

Pros

Pay, Easy work

Cons

Extreme heat, Management, Safety concerns
