Reviews about Pay & benefits for Loader at SGS
Annual Contract Work
Railcar Loader (Former Employee) - North York, ON - 7 April 2022
Workplace - terminal work with the big three oil companies, they decide all the contract terms and change them when they feel like it. Management - management is off site and not close in proximity, atleast three hour drive from Toronto. So management only checks in when there are issues and are distant. When there is no work to be done or lack of hours they cannot help you.
Pros
Good pay and benefits
Cons
Long hours, outdoor work, manual/hard labour

Not a place to grow or advance your career
Rail car loader (Former Employee) - Nanticoke, ON - 2 April 2019
Worked at the nanticoke facility and learned a bit about rail car fundamentals. Most coworkers were great to work with. Management is a total joke and they bring in people with no rail skills to run it. Payroll can never seem to get the pays right. No positive reinforcement, only negative. Not much room to advance in jobs and the wage is to low for the responsibility that the loaders have. Dealing with highly volatile products for low pay doesn’t cut it. They will hire anyone as long as you can pass a drug test lol. Higher wages and better management would keep guys around more but that won’t happen unless sgs gets off that site.
Pros
5 on 5 off schedule isn’t to bad. Decent coworkers
Cons
Low pay. Poor management. Low morale
