Management changes in the past few months implemented a new culture with better salaries and production bonus. Shift rotation are based on department needs and length can be 8, 10 or 12-hr.

*WARNING* If you have any experience, don't work here

Brutal! Tasks are simple and repetitive, high work load, lunch and break often not taken/given. No teamwork, problem solving, or advancement, do not work here unless you are desperate or as a first job. Any chemist with any self respect left.

Pros

Reimbursed safety shoe

Cons

long hours with no overtime, work weekends, no advancement, mundane tasks, no team aspect

Please consider about it seriously

This is a really toxic company. Stressful environment and heavy workload. Worst of all, they don't care about you. None of my college was happy about the work here. They do 6-month contract with an extension which means the probation period is one year. They're doing that because they think they're a big company and will make your resume look good. Please don't get confused by their title, SGS is a big company but it's important who you're working with and what your daily job is.

Pros

co-workers are lovely

Cons

toxic management, heavy workload, very repetitive

Low pay with bad management team

People are working hard, but the wages is very low which is next to minimum pay. The benefit is efficient. Worst thing is the management, there is no direction and lack of planning. often over sold their capacity and let staff and clients suffer. And management do not understand the need and not able to help with constructive idea, to aid work level which make goals difficult achieve.

Pros

Ot, flex hours

Cons

Long hours, forced OT, bad management, and low wages

Productive workplace

I liked working at SGS. Management was good and I learned a lot of new skills. I liked that they were supportive of people taking courses. They paid for me to take my Level 2 First Aid, WHMIS, and a Safe Driving course.

Pros

Paid vacation and once a year bonus

Cons

Huge workload and it was hard to get reception coverage

Stay the hell away

Poor and indecisive management led to many layoffs within the department and the cutting of hours for contract employees. If you are permanent full-time they will not cut your hours. Personally in my case, if the work is slow and the department is not making money, they cut your hours with only one day notice. Got used and bounced around because I was on contract. Attended department meetings only to be told to go back to work 1 minute in. Worst lab I ever worked at and I have been around

Pros

if you like to be treated unfairly

Cons

low wage, constantly shuffled around, cut your hours, no leadership from management
