Laboratory Technician, Geochemistry in Lakefield, ON

Can be a good starting placeSGS is a good starting block for those trying to get into the laboratory or environmental field. If your in the Geochemistry building most supervisors are good and will always try and help. Work life balance is pretty good. The pay is not the best but the benifts are good. The job itself is good, stress free and you learn lots, but SGS is still a global company there to make money.I don't regret my time spent there. They also try and provide company lunches or bbqs frequently:)

Job sucks. Schedule is amazing. Pay is good. You will be micro managed during every second of your day. You will do the exact same thing over and over day in and day out. You wilI never be trusted to complete your job properly. The team is toxic, the management is inept, the client is a nightmare. This is not just my experience, it is universal. Do not expect to have good days at this job. Your mental health will suffer. But the schedule is amazing, the pay is good and it's all in town with no night shifts. I can't recommend working here, but if you need to use it as a stepping stone there's certainly worse jobs.

Operator in Vancouver Island, BC

Poorly managed division on Vancouver IslandI enjoyed the work itself. The area I worked in was not supported by the manager whatsoever. Expenses were not reimbursed in a timely manner. Training was non existent. The regional manager never responded to emails. Raises were late or not there at all.
