Depending on location. The Tower management can be good or poor. My last was poor.
If you need experience, it’s a good route to go. I would try RVA or Midwest first if you don’t have to be west of the Rockies. The pay isn’t great for ATC but it’s much better than you would get for most non college jobs. You must have CTO and a Class 2 flight physical. Age isn’t an issue with the contact system.

Working in austere conditions is very challenging.
Working in Iraq is very rewarding and very frustrating at the same time. Serco has done a good job of trying to influence the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority to conform to worldwide standard of air traffic control. But Iraq has a very small budget for developing ATC or any other important areas of Iraq because of the huge expense of being constantly in war.
Pros
Great salary.
Cons
6-7 day work rotations with inadequate time off, Iraq bleeding our contract by always asking for more, Iraq bleeding our contract by not making payments for up to 6 months at a time, Iraq unable to approve contracts or extend contracts before expiration.
