Easy work for decent pay

Overall good job. 40 hrs a week, overtime is available. If you need to leave a day, you can make it up in the same week without hurting your attendance. But when you are a seasonal employee, you start a month or two after the new hires. There is no guarantee of when you start work or when work will end for the season until a week or two before so. Rules for everyone including supervisors change every day.

Pros

Easy work, benefits

Cons

No guarantee of employment

The job itself isn’t that hard if you can follow directions from the guidance and be prepared for change since things often change and sometimes not for the better

Pros

Remote due to COVID

Upper management could be better

Its ok - mixed

Stressful targets impossible to maintain. Really low pay for high stress. Management are horrific, they pay painfully low for the stress you go through daily. PAY RANGES $22 TO $23.50 for 1st Year. Low pay for INTENSE WORKLOAD. Everything is money driven. Cost cutting is to the point of making work difficult to complete. Co workers were great. Some Team Managers were nice. Fast paced work + plenty of chances to up-skill, pay is on the lower end of fair & reasonable.

Pros

Team mates

Cons

Not many cons

Pays the bills

Hired to fulfill a contract. Pay is decent but the annual raises are horrendous, 1.5% and not based on performance. Good thing I have a terrific manager.

Pros

Pays bills

Cons

Limited advancement

Good for quick stepping stone

Working in a court or a driver at base. Can be fast paced and dangerous work .No 2 days the same .Start time but no finish time.Management show favouritism all the time and jobs are not shared out evenly .If you are finished early because not needed you accrue under hours which you have to make up .I also believe the company is agest. Lots of lazy people who get away with it .The company needs a big shake up

Pros

If with a nice team can be good fun

Cons

No finish time.Under hours.Bad Management in Bases.

The Bait and Switch approach to run a business

Data processing using 4 different sets of instructions, which changed daily and sometimes several times in the day, without notice. They say, that they weren't a call center, yet set up everyone to start taking calls. favored employees received less calls or no calls. rewarded those who worked less, than those that worked very hard. Management had no idea what they were doing and they didn't know anything about how to do the job of the people they were managing - no help. Culture mosh posh of people. I learned not to trust. Hardest part, was going to work, the most enjoyable part of my day, was when I walked out the door

Pros

pay, could leave everyday

Cons

everything else

Do not work for Serco it’s trash

If you are offered a job with Serco while working for another job, think twice about leaving. They will make you do the 6 weeks training and once you graduate they will have you working for Serco thinking everything is ok. What they don’t tell you is once you finish training it does not mean you actually have the job. You could be working for Serco for 4+ months still waiting for the vetting to clear and if your vetting does not pass, you will be terminated from your contract and left with no job. If you leave a job for this job it is very risky. You could be left with no job in the end. They say that you can appeal the vetting decision if it has failed, however it takes the vetting team weeks/ months before they reply back to you, there is no support from Serco or the vetting team on how you can appeal the decision. It takes weeks for the vetting team to actually tell you why you failed. No one cares if your life is in shambles. They leave you to fend for yourself jobless with no support. I will never recommend this company to anyone I know.

Pros

Nice colleagues

Cons

Make you do 6 weeks intense training, make you work before vetting has cleared, They will terminate your contract if it has not passed, no support

Disorgainsed and no security

So disorganised, training is literally slideshows and self teaching. No idea on systems when they launch new contracts. Get thrown around all over the place from contract to contract. No progression, let go at a moments notice No job security. No support for mental health when needed. Joke of a company.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Disorganised, disaster, clueless management

Terrible place to work, avoid at all cost and save yourself the bother

They have no respect for themselves or there workforce. You are just a number and the certainly don't care regarding your quality of work or your loyalty towards them and they certainly won't give think twice about you. They will sacrifice you in a second if it made them an extra pound.

Pros

You'll get a job, cause no-one is willing to stay for long

Cons

Everything you don't want in a job

Awful company, Awful job. just Avoid.

Life as a PCO can be challenging to say the least. The Middle management are often promoted beyond their abilities, Very few honest Supervisors.Lots of staff are illiterate, unprofessional, lazy drivers dictating to the control room staff daily.Poor pay for the risks involved, Annual bonus is an insult, so most staff don’t bother going the extra mile. Tinpot company, long term staff probably can’t get a better job due to their abilities or lack of. Awful job, awful conditions, awful pay, awful management. Steer well clear of this kind of work, it’s a thankless job with zero benefits. Most probably couldn’t make the grade as a Prison Officer. Most can’t even perform C&R properly, probably shouldn’t be in this job. Low pay, so low expectations are the norm.

Pros

None

Cons

Long unsociable hours, awful pay, dishonest staff and corrupt management.

I had a good experience with Serco

I enjoyed working for Serco. The management was good to me. I felt like I was an important part of the team. I would work with them again. They gave me an opportunity to do an NVQ. I had regular meetings

Pros

NVQ training

Cons

Did not renew contract with client.

Productive and meaningful

Very rewarding position, management encouraged and guided to keep you within your realm of stated contract responsibilities as well as protection from being overwhelmed by workloads from immediate supervisors who were not part of SERCO. Overall a fair and good company if immediate contract management team are fair and mentoring individuals. SERCO should be allowed to include clauses for dangerous inclement weather into future contracts for protection of salary and essential personnel safety due to traveling to and from work locations

Pros

Assisting individuals, pay, title for specialist, assistance when required

Cons

No clause for pay when base closure, No clause for pay for delayed opening of base operations, No clause for travel pay during inclement weather, Limited opportunity for breaks when processing

Absolute joke

The contract itself isn't that bad, rather relaxed with somewhat friendly managers. but the company is absolutely abysmal. it is nigh on impossible to contact anyone at recruitment, emails, calls, live chat absolutely nothing. smoke signals and SOS beacons would probably have yielded more results. I cannot stress how horrible the communication is with this company I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to find that no one works in recruitment. It's a shame, it is impossible to be enthusiastic about work when it feels like 8 people control the whole show and they're all on permanent sick leave.

Pros

relaxed work, Great colleagues, non stressful environment

Cons

bad pay, joke of a recruitment dept, lack of training

Stressful and disorganised

It is a good job and an easy one, however due to poor management from your line managers and control, you are left woking a lot of overtime, as well as stressing to meet lockout times. Overtime is paid however, they are very quick to take that away from you, for example you work 8 hour shifts a day, so lets say today you done 14 hours completely exhausting yourself, the next day they will make you come in at 6am and send you home by 10am, not only making sure that the overtime you done is taken back, but they will do it a few days, so now u owe them hours and for that they will completely use you up.

Pros

Its a fun job where u meet a lot of people

Cons

Extremely long hours, and not worth the money for the headache and exhaustion you put yourself through

Awful place

Shocking culture where you are just treated as a number. Terrible rates of pay. Ivory tower management culture. Coercion and pressure applied from senior management to sweep things under the carpet when legitimate issues are raised. No thought for the well-being of staff, just worked like dogs which leads to frankly shocking levels of staff turnover. Profit the only thing that matters.

Pros

None

Cons

Poor rates of pay
