Management will lie to you
Security Officer (Former Employee) –  Dartmouth, NS18 April 2018
Management personnel are not qualified for their positions, this always leads to enormous problems!! Guards get blamed for not showing up to a site to work, when all along, the person who was supposed to schedule the guard, failed to do so for whatever reason. This leads to chaos, and that is the best adjective to describe this company...CHAOS!! You will be asked to work overtime, and you will not get paid! They will lie to you!! NOT A GOOD PLACE TO WORK!!!

too many to list!

Worst company ever
Security Officer (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB24 March 2018
Would ask you to choose the sites and work as per your criteria and availability during interview and orientation, but after hiring they will force you to work on their basis and would fire you if you feel uncomfortable working at any site or refuse to work at some sites.
Also no post orders or training provided in some specific sites and you end up without knowing what to do in your shift and no one picks up the call after officer hours.
Would threaten to fire you on small mistakes instead of providing training.

Cons

Overall a nice place to work to.
Directeur de Compte National - Division Patrouille (Current Employee) –  Montréal-Ouest, QC21 March 2018
There are no typical day at Securitas. Everyday is a different day, different challenges.
One needs to take ownership of the business, the management is not too micro-managing.
The hardest part of the job is to keep client satisfied of the services we provide them. Due to nature of duties, many issues to resolve each day.
The most enjoyable part of the job is growth opportunities.
Pros
Flexible hours
Cons

Security Officer (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON17 March 2018
spend most of your time waiting for your shift to finish and actually doing security. Job is perfect is your in university or a bored elderly person in retirement but outside of these criteria nothing worth mentioning. pay is low and company low ball its employee and contract holder.contract holder is paying for 35/hr per security officer. Securitas will take as much until minimum wage is met.
when i started that was 10/hr and they found it odd they employee felt over work for the amount they were paying
Pros
lots of free time for homework and studing for exam
Cons
hires many immigrant s and FOTB to get away with poor management and pay

You will get posted at one or more sites and be required to write security reports with detail. Not a good job if you're a timid or shy person as you will have to deal with people causing disturbances.

job was good management was poor
Security Guard (Former Employee) –  Saint John, NB10 March 2018
The job in and of itself was enjoyable enough for people who want to work alone (for the most part) and make their own decisions but management is poorly handled and in many cases the management will tell you what you wish to hear just so they don't have to deal with the issue anymore
Pros
work on your own and freely with little supervision
Cons
management and scheduling issues

Security Guard (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON7 March 2018
The company was good. However, management didn't take care of seniority. For them, first come, first serve. Their shifts were flexible with a lot of on-call shift.

Management doesn't care about the employees. Constant battle for pay and continuous errors in time and pay. No concern for the well being of employees whatsoever.

Pros
Collègue et salaire
Cons
Horaire instable

The management is good, however, sometimes they can be a little late with getting back to you. Also, the pay could also be better for the amount of work there is.
Pros
Good management

Security Clearance
not yet working there (Former Employee) –  not yet working there21 January 2018
Some of their positions require security clearance. You can't get this by yourself, an employer has to recommend you. During the interview I asked if they can help me get security clearance, they said I can get this without their recommendation. Complete nonsense.

Better than average, but demanding of your time
Security Guard (Former Employee) –  Dartmouth, NS18 January 2018
Generally speaking, everyone I interacted with was pleasant to deal with, and seemed to know what they were doing. Unfortunately the nature of security services means that you are beholden to the times that you are given, not what you would prefer. Meaning that you can quickly go from early morning 6 to 5, straight into a late 9 pm to 9 am every day.

It has benefits but that's about it
Daytime guard, access control (Current Employee) –  Dartmouth, NS13 December 2017
If you get into a site that didn't require talking or dealing with the office much you'll have more patience. However the sheer lack of organization, logic and sense shown but the scheduling staff is astounding. Very little care is given to client needs and even less care is given to Securitas employees.
Pros
benefits through Manulife
Cons
poor scheduling and communication
