Overall Great place to work!
Driver (Current Employee) –  North York31 August 2018
I have worked at Seaboard for over 4 years. Although no company is perfect, they are one of the best. They truly care about all their employees, Company drivers to Owner Operator Drivers. Managers will stick their necks out to help you. The Human Resource team is so quick at responding to issues and getting them corrected. As any trucking company, we have our fair amount of pay issues, but these are often quickly rectified. I would recommend this company to anyone. If you are honest and hardworking, this is the place for you. You wont find another trucking company with more heart that Seaboard.

Driver Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON10 January 2018
The company is focused on just getting the job done but not development. This is not a conducive environment for employee learning and growth while maintaining a less than optimal balance between work and life.

Dispatcher (Former Employee) –  Sherwood Park, AB11 November 2017
Lost my job as a dispatcher to some outside hire, who was buddies with the new Sherwood Park Terminal manager. Nice to know our jobs can be given away to people who had prior relations with the boss.

Driver/Delivery (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON17 October 2017
Fuel delivery in and around Ottawa and the valley. Every day was a challenge from equipment, to dispatch, to delivery. Equipment safety questionable- could be better, the change over to trip rate from hourly pay affected this issue. Hot work in the summer, cold in the winter as you are out in the elements.Told to sit home quite often, not enough work for all at times. Lack of communication on management side (maintenance, dispatch, and operations).
Pros
schedule
Cons
inconsistent pay and unfair dispatch

Was fun at first....
Company Driver (Former Employee) –  Grande Prairie, AB, Prince George, BC26 April 2017
At first the company that was bought out by Seaboard was fantastic. Then the honeymoon ended and new management came in and it turned into a nightmare. New management seemed to care about cost reduction and their own salaries instead of doing things right. That meant over looking serious defects with tractor units- the unit I drove would lock out driver ability to control throttle due to a faulty transmission. The so called established organization is just a work in progress or a hot mess...take your pick. Wouldn't recommend that kind of headache on anybody because they abuse the HOS to fit their need, to save money, which saves their own jobs.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Poor management, poor dispatch, compliant enough to stay on the road, watch all your hours for pay because they short you on breakdown hours on the road or otherwise.

Avoid Seaweed at ALL costs
Driver (Former Employee) –  Sherwood Park, AB7 April 2017
Drivers, Managers and Office Staff are leaving as fast as they can. Head office in Nova Scotia only cares about expansion and making money losing bids on new contracts. This business model will fail.
Pros
There are lots of other good companies in my area to work for.
Cons
ask any former employees

Productive and challenging workplace
Parts Manager (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB20 March 2017
A day at Seaboard was rarely a dull one, particularily for a parts manager. At the time of my employment, the company was undergoing a merger with a partnered company, and our workplace was undergoing constant expansion. As a result, management was also rotating on a fairly regular basis.
Pros
Challenging environment
Cons
Rotating management and staff, limited overtime.

Not a very good place to work
Former driver (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB26 February 2017
When seaboard took over scamp, the safety culture went right out of the window. They don't care about safety... all they care about is to expand and cut costs, and cut costs means they stand on the backs of the drivers and cut the wages for the same job we where doing at scamp. Terrible place to work for.

None
Cons
They lie constantly

Sad to see a company go downhill
Driver (Current Employee) –  Sherwood Park, AB16 February 2017
If your just looking for a pay check and nothing more then Seaboard is the company for you. Along the way they lost their values and respect for their employees. No two departments communicate with each other, so don't be surprised if your sitting.
Seaboard has the benefit of the PIC plates, how they keep them is beyond me. If ran correctly with the right people it has the potential to be a great place to work, but unfortunately the wrong people are in charge.
