From what I understand about other trucking companies there are a lot of problems out there. Everything at Schneider is fairly straight forward. If I had to guess I’d say they have fewer problems than most. It was my fort trucking job so I don’t have much to compare it to.
Pros
Plenty of miles, they let you do your job, pay gets better over time
Cons
Inexperienced driver managers, terrible operating centers in western 11, pay

As far as over the road goes they’re not bad to work for. Pay is pretty decent for over the road. Equipments not bad but it seems the veteran drivers end up with the older run down trucks. The downside starts if you try to get a home daily driving job. After almost 14 years with the company I was told I could get a home daily job if I was willing to have my pay cut by over half. Apparently the more years you have with the company the less your worth.
Pros
Good equipment if your new
Cons
Pay and home time

this place left a bad taste in the mouth the sups never really cared about any of their employees and never did anything to help an individual grow....it was always who you knew and not what you knew or could do for the company, plus they always played favorites

Good company to work for for training and get time and seat. I was home most weekends and kept me moving all the time during when the economy was down back in 2008.
Pros
Good place for training and get started in trucking.
Cons
The pay was not good. They have health insurance but not the greatest.

Great training with this company. Most people work a year or two before moving on, due to inconsistent bonus structure that relates to penny pinching business strategies which leaves the drivers absorbing the cost of time and missed opportunities. I would definitely recommend this company!
Pros
Get your two years experience
Cons
No pay for work when truck is not moving

they fired me for a woulda coulda situation. Never had a accident. Had a few critical events . But to get fired was overkill. I work 6 days a week for 2.5 years . And that’s how they treat their top earners. If you like 40k a year go for it. I swear they will make you waste ur days . 8 hour day turns into a 14 hour day. Other than dispatchers this company sucks . Heath insurance is trash . Pay is terrible. You get 1 cent a year . Lol
Pros
Dispatchers respect
Cons
Pay, heath insurance and corporate

I'm a veteran that has double protection status. I had 19 years with the company. I was promised local when account went local, it was given to other drivers with less experience and time with the company. Forced to help set up an account in another state or pushed into the system with promise of being allowed on it "temporarily" before I get pushed in the system. They gave me a pay cut every time i move between accounts. There is a "don't bother us when we are off or after hours" attitude. And you are stuck dealing with all problems that arise. My vacation requests turned down (I have things to take care off too after covoid). So after I gave them the 90 days as their ask for on the account, with barely 34 hours home time a week, usually spend sleeping since it was night job. I found other employment that allows me time home, not spend sleeping. I was told I would get paid to get back to home state (they are not allowed business travel because of covoid, but will "attempt to stuff you in an uber", which I didn't get, and was left in another state to find my way home. My 3 weeks of PTO that i was not allowed to take, and had requested, would be paid out. Well, I was informed today, they don't have to pay it out in the state of Virginia so they won't. Yet recruiter is calling me to come back.....think about this before you hire with this company. Take the sign on bonuses (your welcome, they took it from me) and than RUN. This is not a company to stay with. I never seen so much favoritism in my life. They worked me to the bone, and now they wont' even pay my my well earned PTO?? - more...
Pros
None, I had to take care of everything, including customer complaints
Cons
the deny you leave to safe money and keep it if you dare quit, Not life balance, They will work you to death and expect you to be grateful

Excellent all around company. World class training, safety is the NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. Treats employees with respect, trust, and confidence. Equipment and tools to get the job done are new or near new and extremely well maintained. This company is run as well or more accurately better than any company I've experienced. Fantastic company to make a career with!
Pros
Equipment, respect, safety, confidence, trust, resources, people
Cons
None

They offer a lot,but deliver the opposite.
Meager benefits and pay. They have a very mediocre dispatch system.

Send you to a customer and they do not know what time your load is gonna be ready. Then deadhead to next pick up almost 200 miles to do a crosstown or ramp pull than only pays $10.00

What a joke!!

I’ve learned that as skilled labor I’m worth much more than what they pay. I’ve moved on to a better paying job that’s closer to the $100k range. $41k per year is trash for the risk we endure as professional drivers.
Pros
Always work
Cons
Very low pay.

Schneider was a joke outright. Maybe it used to be a great company back in the 70s or something. It is currently a relic of those times. The pay was a joke I doubt I was making minimum wage when you average out the total hours I was work divided by the pay. The online computer system was a joke confirmed by people who had worked there for 3 to 4 years and had watched the other horrible versions previously. Honestly even Swift, Prime, Werner and the like seem to have their stuff better together than this Stock Holder run Company. This is no longer a family run company in any serious meaning of the word and the cuts to everything reflect that. I lasted 6 weeks made 1000 a week on my best week working 70 plus hours when extras were taken into account. I currently drive a cement truck for a solid hourly wage. I work 40-50 hours a week and make on an average week almost double what I made with these guys with half the work, get better treatment, sleep in a nice bed and have better insurance for sure. Schneider is simply a has been company of the past that needs to go under like Sears, JCPennys Schlitz beer, Playboy, Marlboro Cigarettes and the like from the 70s that are over and done. If you need a starter company look elsewhere. If you have experience of any kind they should be an absolute last resort right before being homeless on the streets. Six weeks of their nonsense and I got off the road went back local and am earning infinitely more and am treated much better.
Pros
not anything great to mention
Cons
Horrible pay and benefits below industry standards
