Value Village, a Savers brand, is a for-profit, global thrift retailer offering great quality, gently used clothing, accessories and household goods. Our Rethink Reuse® business model of purchasing, reselling and recycling gives communities a smart way to shop and keeps more than 700 million pounds of used goods from landfills each year. We also help more than 100 nonprofit organizations by purchasing donated goods from them, which provides a source of revenue to help supports their vital community programs and services. Our brands comprise of Savers (in the U.S. and Australia), Value Village (in the U.S. and Canada), Unique (in the U.S.), and Village des Valeurs (in Quebec). All in all, we operate over 300 locations and have 21,000 employees.

Our Beginning

We first started as a thrift store operating out of an old movie theater in San Francisco’s Mission District back in 1954. We gave people what they were looking for: well-priced items that made them crazier than the Elvis hip thrust.

Local Partnerships

As our company grew, so did our heart for helping others. We wanted to help local communities, so we partnered with nonprofit organizations doing great things like helping kids, the disabled, people suffering from diseases. The business model caught on to the tune of 300 stores across the United States, Canada and Australia.

Global Impact

But we didn’t stop there. We looked globally, too. We resolved to keep 700 million pounds of items from bedding and shoes to dishes and toys out of landfills each year by either selling it in our stores or sending it to recyclers and developing countries.

Not awful, high turnover
I worked in sorting/tagging, and then went to CDC.8.5 hour day, x2 15 min breaks. Not designed for long term, quickly burns people out. CDC was required to work extremely hard, averaged 25000 step days. Minimum wage and raises are practically non-existent.Orwellian levels of surveillance, managers watching you, regional managers watching you and your managers, everyone on edge. The place se...

Not an ideal workplace..
Managers and supervisors could care less about you. If your in pain oh well suck it up, if you can't lift due to an injury well that's life. This isn't the ideal workplace but in today's economy you have to do what's best for you and your family, if that means crying after every shift because people treat you like cr4p the whole day or because your in pain then so be it. Definitely look at other...

Don’t do it.
I thought my other job was bad. At least I was able to make friends and have short conversations at that place. Definitely not happening at Value Village! No fun allowed. All they care about are their numbers and how much money they make off of the over priced junk that they get for FREE. And they just give you more stuff to do on top of the work you already have and then get snippy when you aren’...
