Productive fun place with flexibility

Management gives great support and inquiries about ways to improve the work atmosphere daily. Easy routine in place, gives workers the confidence to preform regular job duties.

Management terrible, never take responsibility for bad decisions.

Poor management, always promoting people based on friendship rather than skill.poor communication one boss will ask to do something, another would ask to do something else.time management was terrible.just a bad place to work.

They tell you get bonuses, they make it impossible, tell you if you get another job you have 30 days to return, never seen it happen, management don't know what's going on or pretend not to.They talk safety but talk is cheap, and never get hurt at work you will be gone when you get back,or they will make it so your forced to quit.

Pros

Physical and Mentally exhausting

Typically we are to clean to the building before the store opens, keeping it clean. I learned that it is important to follow the rules of the store to keep a healthy routine running. The management, in my opinion, was quite forceful and wouldn't demonstrate needs and if done wrong, scold us for not doing it properly. The hardest part of the job was watching others work really hard and not get any reward for it. In fact, would get insulted for not working hard enough. The most enjoyable part of the job was when we were at lunch and having a conversation with each other.

Pros

2 Breaks 1 lunch

Cons

Management doesn't care about your well-being

Fun to be with coworkers and customers but not with Backroom Management

Decent flexible hours that worked out well, but very physically demanding and hard to meet expectations that are set very high. Great coworkers, learned to use a few heavy machinery, but management in the back are beyond stubborn to work with (i.e going against company protocol, lying, employee targeting) and the job is beyond dirty and health hazardous. Take this job at own risk.

Pros

Fit great with personal timeline, great hours to work with

Cons

Management is chaotic to work with, expectations set too high, very dirty; very physically demanding, overall stressful

Enjoyable, fast paced work environtment.

Working at Value Village was a good experience, for the most part. My co workers were easy to get along with a friendly. Management was also easy to get a long with but at times it seemed like they didn't listen to the employees. I enjoyed the work itself. Moving donations from the door to the sales floor was easy work for me and it kept me busy. The toughest part was trying to figure out a temporary solution to some problems while management was trying to work out a permanent solution.

Pros

Friendly environment

Cons

Hours fluctuated way too much

Average workplace, Good values, Poor advancement Oppourtunities, Management issues.

The hard workers work hard, the lazy stay lazy and the management pick their favourite employees. Value Village seemed like nothing more than an employment cycle to capture and appease select workers, while the others are pushed to quit. while the retail side of the business is what it seems (an out of high school retail opportunity). the full time grind of the production employees resemble a master whipping their horse to a gallop for 8 hours (with standard government regulation breaks). A horrible 10.25$/h beginning wage is being given to men and women asked to work like their making 14-15 dollars an hour. Granted a few of the production jobs have a minimum wage feel, while the rest are more fast paced and unyielding in their physical and mental demands. Overall, throw in an average workplace, management that seems straight out of high school, and low wages for work yielded, and what do you get? Value Village...

Pros

if your lucky you will wont get yelled at too much

Cons

everything
