I worked for value village and is the worse place that one can work. They slave and harass that weak .The general manager always support the production manager to harass the poor minimum wage weak worker. Please do not donate anything to this organisation .Find different way to donate your clothes and goods. 11732-166 street is that place.

Not worth the time
Production (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB3 October 2018
Will hire outside rather than developing talent from within. Has different dress code for regular staff and management, fostering a intense hierarchical structure. Management does not receive effective training in professionalism and supervisory skills. At the very least, is an appropriate place to work if you have little to no job prospects absolutely anywhere else.
Pros
discount, dressing up for 2 months
Cons
everything else

Good place, wears on you though
Production Supervisor/Front End Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB17 July 2018
Great place to work, like an island of misfit toys, value village frequently hires the odd and different people and molds them into productive team members.

Turnover is reasonably high in management, as what is asked of them and compensation to do so really don't line up.
Pros
discount

The people in both management and co-workers are great to work with and dealing with the customers can have its challenges though they are still nice to interact with.

Working at Value Village
Recycler (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB3 July 2017
Working at Value Village can be very rewarding but also can be very difficult. No matter how well you do it is never good enough. Years ago I would have recommended working for this company but not now.

Overworked and underpaid
Cashier and customer service (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB23 May 2017
They expect you to do the cashiers job, management job and the floor cleaners job all at once. They will offer you promotions to get you to work harder but never follow through with it. They also pay the bare minimum and rarely raise your wage, even if you've been there for years.
Pros
Half off of the merch
Cons
They tug you around and barely pay you

Good place for your first job
Community Donation Center Ambassador / Team Member (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB11 May 2017
A typical day at work start with cleaning whether sweeping or putting items at their proper places
Nothing much to learn except how to greet customers or donors
Workplace culture is very friendly and easy going
Hardest part of the job is to deal between situations when there are no customers or donors and when there are too many of them
Most enjoyable part of the job is meeting friendly co-workers and when you find funny items in donations
Pros
Free lunch every month; Good discount on store items; Flexible hours
Cons
Just above minimum salary; Too early 1st shift and production shifts

sales and customer service (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB8 November 2016
The best part of working at Savers/Value Village is the discounts, your co-workers and the people that come in almost all the time who you get to know on a first name basis. You are making a huge difference in the community and environment.
Pros
Free lunches on sales days!!
Cons
Can be long hrs and days.
