Good employer, good wage, room to grow
Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) - Moose Jaw, SK - 27 September 2023
I've been with the SHA for 8 years. My current management are exceptional and ensure a work/life balance. The SHA has good pay and benefits. There is room to grow in many aspects and lots of online learning opportunity.

Fun workplace but stressful at times
Diet Clerk (Former Employee) - Swift Current, SK - 9 August 2023
Working at SHA was like a roller-coaster ride and it has its ups and downs like any other companies. As an employee I believe that my time at SHA help me grow as an individual specially on multitasking and dealing with different people from different backgrounds . Hardest part of the job was some staff at the hospital I am working are not following the work standards, its there for formality but in reality people just want to come in and earn money. One more thing to add is that there is always a staff shortage almost on every department. I see management keeps on hiring people but in my opinion management should not focus on hiring people but more on retention. Why people are not staying should be addressed instead of just getting a bunch of new hires again and again.
Pros
Paid vacations, family leave, stat leave, health benefits and Union
Cons
Short staff all the time

not a career a job
Medical Office Assistant (Current Employee) - Regina, SK - 28 June 2023
somehow the management makes people feel guilty if they don't work for free ...the pay is very low for support staff...people think it's ok but there are union dues and you are not paid for the earned day off....computer systems are old and not linked...they only got windows 10 because Microsoft made them...ladies lots of weekends which won't work for daycare
Cons
regular staff have to cover for people who don't speak English and it makes them grouchy

No policy enforcement- No support from HR
Manager (Former Employee) - Saskatchewan - 26 May 2023
Managers have little recourse when dealing with conduct issues in the workplace. Harrassment is not uncommon between employees or even employees to management or other out of scope staff. Same employees are abusing the sick banks often leaving us short handed on short notice. We can't always get casuals to come to work to replace on a moment's notice. If you want OT as an employee this is a good place to work. If you want stress and no support as a manager, also a good place to work.

Awful workplace
Food Service Worker (Current Employee) - Saskatchewan - 2 May 2023
Most of the workers here are absolutely miserable. The most enjoyable part of the job is leaving. Sask health doesn’t care about their employees at all.

Lots of overtime available
CCA (Former Employee) - Rosetown, SK - 29 April 2023
A good team of people but also a lot of work and short staffing issues. Large floor plan makes for a lot of walking. The permanent schedule is not family friendly but you can work casual and keep 36 hours a week.

Certain people have an overwhelming affect on the work environment
CCA (Current Employee) - Big River, SK - 23 April 2023
In my experience most of my coworkers have lost their passion for the job due to inflation and no real progressive change where we need it most. My Clients always have and will come first but the staff needs some major work with Morale
Pros
extra grandparents to love
Cons
people who make the same wage and do 1/4 of the work and never get in trouble

Do Not Recommend
Continuing Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Prince Albert, SK - 4 April 2023
Moral sucks, backstabbing coworkers, management does not care about your well being. You get hurt they don't care, even if doctors advise not to continue. SHA and Union do not have your back.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Everything

Not for me
Nurse (Former Employee) - Canada - 21 March 2023
Great pay and amazing working with people. Politics make it hard to work properly and with good quality . Most nurses are overworked but at times the work is very rewarding .

Not great
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 15 March 2023
Upper management and directors do not care if you can’t provide add care to people due to critical under staffing. Unions can help but it’s a long process. Don’t work here if you have a conscience and actually want to help people
Pros
None
Cons
Massive under staffing; major safety concerns

More opportunities
Environmental Services Worker (Former Employee) - Oxbow, SK - 15 March 2023
Once inside the system, you can apply for other job vacancies especially if you want to level up your career. Employees are given the first chance to apply before they post it publicly.
Pros
Fun people
Cons
Casual doesn’t get too many hours in small town

Underpaid and undervalued
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - JPCH - 22 February 2023
The SHA does not have family centred care nor do they value their staff. The healthcare crisis in Canada is very prevalent in Saskatchewan. There is no safe parking for staff. As a nurse you are just another number. The benefits and salary are awful.
