Patient Driven Care

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
The Sask Cancer Agency has had it's ups and downs over the years I have been here, but one thing for certain is that patients are first and foremost. If you are interested in working in an environment such as this, and for this reason, then it's for you. On the downside, healthcare is suffering these days - so staff can be a bit cranky and rightfully so.

Interesting

If you are interested in cancer treatment and outcomes this is for you. Training is quite extensive and ongoing. But once you are up to speed you can work independently and have remote work options.

good group of people

I enjoy the people I work with. Its a union environment so if you don't tick all the boxes when applying for positions within the Saskatchewan Cancery Agency, you don't qualify even if you have years of experience doing the same type of work outside of unionized companies!

Pros

Every 3rd friday off

Cons

6 months probationary period, so no benefits intil 6 months. Union environment

Great environment for those wanting to be of assistance to pts.

The most satisfying role in this position was assisting pts. in need. Typical day begins @ 0800 hrs. and ends @ 1700 hrs. All clinic hours and times, not many nursing skills used in this role, if your able to multitask you'll be fine.

Excellent place to work

A typical day at work included creating purchase orders, entering invoices, ordering product and dealing with multiple maintenance issues. I have learned to multitask and deal with multiple projects and issues at the same time. Management of the department was good. Everyone is very awesome to work with considering the terms in which patients are there for. The hardest part of the job was seeing how sick people are and the whole aspect of cancer affecting so many lives. The most enjoyable part of the job was organizing construction projects, managing budgets and working with a lot of wonderful people.

Coordinator, Facilities and Materials Mgt

Management was not working as promised in the workload and the integrity of the department was not there. I was not willing to be part of a micromanagement team when in a Supervisory Role. Goals and expectations were not met, nor were any bonuses or wage increases met by management.
