If you are working outside of Toronto, need not apply. The account manager only checks in when she feels she wants to which results in staffing issues on the daily. Limited training and support for the supervisors. Upper management are fantastic and have a good vision. Client Director needs to move along to hopefully breathe new life into this company. Hired and forgotten.

They treated me like I had no feelings
Russell and their clients don't treat or respect employees well
Management didn't respond to any of my email, calls for help regarding how the client treated me

Working for Russell gave me anxiety, depression and destroyed my self-esteem

Poor work environment

Required to do everything outside your responsibilities as security - ie: going on coffee runs for LCBO manager, putting away carts

Insane workload for what they pay

No wage increase

Non existent benefit

Almost no training

Constantly dealing with violent people

I recommend everyone not to work here. They don't care about anyone. They don't respond to phone calls, text messages and emails. I still don't get my RoE. I am trying to contact them twice a day but no response. They are ridiculous.

Most pathetic security company
Interview took 15 minutes and no reference checks. Hired on the spot because they don’t have any integrity or professional accountability. In fact they average a turnover in guards every day because their pay sucks and the guards they hire don’t care about the job if they even show up. They couldn’t care less if the job is done correctly as long as the guard shows up.
Any one who wants to be lied to and work for a company that goes through more guards than any other company. Wants to be lied to and likes to sit on cell phones and tablets and not do the job this company is for you.

But don’t care about the job because RSSI’s motto is ‘Be seen but not heard’

I would not recommend anyone work for Russell
I've found that Russell has major management problems and that they will allow things to go on, even after being reported by employees who would be fired for reporting things that aren't to be allowed on the job

Horrible treatment from management
Management treats employees as a position to be filled, does not care about their employees' feeling or needs. Micromanaging staff that have years of experience just so they would have the last word. They do not follow up on complaints, inquiries or requests, employees are left to fend for themselves. No support from head office whatsoever. Staff cannot even get proper gear to do their job (ei; bullet proof vest they charge $500 for is filled with CARDBOARD, denied shoe allowance as promised during hire). They do not offer equal opportunity for different positions, they are suppose to post all available positions so anybody to apply for, but they usually personally select their favorite personnel and do not have competitions for those positions.

Wouldn't allow me to take a day off for a medical appointment the was scheduled a year prior to working with the company. Strongly suggest to not apply at this company.

Toxic workplace
I worked at their LCBO site as a uniformed security officer. Some of the LCBO employees that you alongside are okay but most were miserable. The work load was insane for what Russell paid. The stores expected you to stop every shoplifter without any regard for your personal safety. If you tell them its not safe or its against the policy, they will shame you in front of all the staff and customers.

Do not work for this organization!
Low pay for the risk and terrible shift work hours, I haven't had a weekend off in over 3 months. North York HQ is full of losers and incompetence at all levels. Work for G4S or Paladin, you’ll be better off.

This company will treat you like garbage, give you a hard time if you need time off and try to underpay you on every single check to see if you complain about it. If you haven't written down the hours you work they will try and argue about the hours you actually worked. Bad bad company!!!

Supervisors and HR team are jerks
The work load was insane for they pay. The supervisors and the HR girl were all unprofessional and very rude to employees. The gossip and bullying was terrible. Not worth the pay. Couldn't stand to stay for even a year.

less working hours, constantly dealing with violence and a hectic place to work overall with minimum of support from the managment ,

Scheduling department is very rude .not attend the call not even bother to reply to the email

Horrible! Nothing but deception.
Management are intimadating and will create false complaints for a reason to terminate.
They forget that without you thier nothing.

Always error's on every pay. No salary increase whatsoever. Illegal docking of wages whenever company is low on money.

There was not one most enjoyable part of working for Russell Security. The worst year of my career. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

You pay $550 dollars for your uniform and can't get it back until you leave.

One of the worst companies to work for
Unpaid site orientation and training. (ridiculous)
Always get your pay wrong to benefit the company; also for some reason the company that has deducted the most tax in a pay check. (feels like they are doing some tax fraud)

No training on equipment available ex:CCTV.

Always alone for every situation there is no team to support you in case anything goes south.


The stores you work at expect you to get all the shoplifters they see. If you don't they will start complaining to management or simply say to them they don't want you back in the store.

Get ready to feel disrespected, and expendable by this employer.

Nobody will have your back when you get into trouble and higher ups will not listen to your side of the story.

Terrible place to work
Not a good company to work for, the pay is always wrong, and bad "benefits". Stingy with everything. Randomly docks your pay illegally. HR people are rude and when you ask for raise, they tell you to look for work elsewhere. Its a sweatshop, a survival job, until you find a better one.

Underpaid and overworked
Very little room for growth or work-life balance. Communication between upper management and lower management is completely broken. Underqualified staff in positions of upper management who have no clue what they are doing while overqualified supervisors are underpaid and overworked.
