Dating back to 1784 in Montreal, Russel Metals is one of today’s largest metals distribution and processing companies, with over 140 locations across North America. As one of the largest independent steel importers in North America, our company has well-established relationships with North American steel producers. We primarily distribute steel products in three principal business segments: metals service centers, energy products, and steel distributors. Russel Metals has thousands of customers across a wide variety of industries, including machinery and equipment manufacturing, construction, shipbuilding and natural resources.

STUDENTS & NEW GRADS
To support the next generation of industry innovators, Russel Metals has partnered with colleges and universities to offer full and part-time paid internships and co-op placements. Our scholarship program is designed to provide the children of our employees with the opportunity for the pursuit of higher education at a recognized post-secondary institution. This program, which began in 1989, has provided more than 700 scholarships for a total value of more than $2.2 million.
Safety is one of our most important priorities at Russel Metals and is a foundation of our culture, with a significant reduction in lost time incidents in the last 5 years. We continually strive to create a work environment that is free from accidents and injury. Our health and safety standards are enforced throughout the organization from the shop floor to the offices of the Board of Directors. Some of our initiatives include: • Providing hand injury tracking, prevention, and training programs • Initiating third-party health and safety training for managers and supervisors • Completing installation of dash cam technology in all company trucks • Continuing with our company-wide Transportation Safety and Compliance improvement plan, with a focus on new driver training and trailer fall prevention initiatives

At Russel Metals, we encourage the sponsorship of community-based initiatives and endeavor to have the greatest social impact in the local markets where our operations, employees, customers and other stakeholders are located. As an organization, we donate and sponsor local initiatives in health, community programs, local sports, arts, and education. Some of the organizations our team has supported are: • Habitat for Humanity, • Boy Scouts, • Eagle Scouts • Special Olympics • Parkland Regional Safety Committee, • Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, • Root for Trees, • Have Shovel Will Travel, • Children’s Hospital in Atlantic Canada • Along with Active Day Care for vulnerable adults, local food banks and clothing drives, and more In mid-2022, we launched our employee match program, which provides a dollar-for-dollar match of employee donations to qualified charities. Our initial commitment to this program is $1 million.
