Great place to work and grow
Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Head office13 March 2019
This company is growing like crazy!! There are lots of opportunities to try new jobs and learn from others. Company rewards loyalty and hard work. Best perk is that the company is open to hearing and trying new initiatives. Great management and HR support.

Joke of a company
Order Picker/Packer (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON11 March 2019
When you train someone on a forklift you expect them to do one thing before anything else and that would be do not hit the rack. The only people they have driving the machines do just that. Constantly hit the rack.

They even have a guy who is a veteran of an employee and he has hit the racks 10+ times. He gets away with it too because he doesn't report it and intimidates anyone who mentions it.

If you must work here be prepared to throw all rules and common sense out the window.

Unqualified Managers everywhere
Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON11 March 2019
While working at Robertson it becomes very clear very fast that this is the type of company that promotes people who are friends and family of current managers. No matter how hard you work or how much you learn you ultimately mean nothing to the company compared to family members or friends of current management.

This company desperately needs a management overhaul.

Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON27 February 2019
This is the kind of company that you need to get out of once you are in very quickly. Otherwise you get used to never having to follow any rules or guidelines and end up failing anywhere else.

Some workers even call it the Robertson way which is a total lack of respect for anyone or anything including supervisors and managers.

A complete joke
Order Picker/Packer (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON27 February 2019
In the warehouse there are people that have supposedly been there for years that will do 1 or 2 orders to your 15 throughout a day. Those are the people that somehow get special treatment, compared to you.
When anything goes wrong it will be your fault and those special people will get off free.

People are constantly getting into arguments that no supervisor wants to address and even go so far as to threaten each other. Making comments like "meet me outside", or "you better watch yourself". Bringing these situations to the attention of supervisors or HR falls on deaf ears. In fact it annoys them that you are concerned about these things. While other companies it would be an instant investigation.

There are no apparent rules or regulations here. It is a lawless wasteland of HR and basic rights violations.
The labor board of Canada really needs to investigate this cesspool.

Toxic environment
Sales Representative (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON27 February 2019
In the office there are quite a number of people that constantly shout out profanities and other nonsense all day long.

Losing ones temper, slamming phones, telling your co-workers off are all common place here. At one point i thought that this is just how they intimidate new comers or there was a hidden camera somewhere. Boy was i wrong.

Completely unprofessional workplace.
If you are starting out in the industry this is a good place to at least have on your resume so you can go somewhere better. However your patience, and demeanor will be tested.

Toxic work environment
Purchasing Agent (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON27 February 2019
The favoritism in this workplace is so painfully obvious that it will honestly make you feel ill.

Unless you are family or friends with current employees before you are hired you'll have no chance at this company. If an outsider were to ask a question about a job they are met with "Go ask someone else" etc...

If a Co-workers family member or friend asks the same question they are babysat for weeks and even have other people take on their task so it can be done.

A Predator of a company
Order Picker/Packer (Former Employee) –  Vaughan, ON27 February 2019
When they hire workers in the warehouse they specifically look for individuals that do not fully know their rights or are very desperate for work.

They pay minimum wage but will tell you that it is actually competitive with other companies in the area. However literally down the road is a company that would hire workers for 18$ for the same work as starting pay.

Avoid this company.

A Warehouse Scapegoat
Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) –  Vaughan, ON26 February 2019
When you first start there people make it seem like it has a friendly atmosphere and open acceptance to newcomers. You go through your training and then are on your own.

However shortly after being left on your own you'll find that you are being blamed for mistakes that management and senior workers make simply because you are new. However this does not happen once or twice but constantly.

Then they have the nerve to bring up these things that you had no part of in your review after 3 months saying "they cannot justify a raise at this time due to previous errors" or "your supervisor said this about you a while ago".

If you have absolutely no where else to go for work by all means take a job here but it will be miserable, and you will regret it.

Nightmare workplace
Purchasing Assistant (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON26 February 2019
This is not a respectable workplace. The language that people in the warehouse and office use is so vulgar even sailors would be shocked.

Any attempt to bring these issues to Hr are met with "This is just how things are around here".

Pathetic.

A temp agencies worst nightmare
Order Picker/Packer (Former Employee) –  Vaughan, ON26 February 2019
Having been hired through an agency i can honestly say that i have never been treated so poorly by people in management. There are people there that will time your bathroom breaks and question you why you think taking a bathroom break should not count as your regular 15 minute break or why you should be able to take your full lunch break because you took a bathroom break.

Unbelievable

Lots of room for advancement if you're a hard worker
Sales Representative (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON11 February 2019
Great place to work that doesn't suffocate workers with a bunch of middle management. If you work hard and prove yourself, the sky is the limit. It is a fair and honest place to work who believes in rewarding people who go above and beyond.

Purchasing Manager (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON5 February 2019
What a great place to work! I'm lucky enough to have worked many years with Robertson and look forward to many more.

This is a company where hard work and problem solving pay off. nobody gets a free ride, but everyone has an equal opportunity to advance.

There is an apparel program that gets you free company clothing and lots of barbecues and events for employees.

Management will blow your mind
Order Picker (Former Employee) –  180 New Huntington14 January 2019
I think this is the only company in the world where warehouse workers know the ins and outs of a job better then management.
The highers ups you as a worker are supposed to double check with and learn from are non-existent.

Lazy good for nothings in higher paying jobs trying to make other workers break their backs, so they can take all the credit when a good outcome happens but when something goes wrong it will be your fault.

Imagine the warehouse manager coming out and asking you how departments are supposed to be ran.....
You can only laugh at such a statement but truly the WAREHOUSE MANAGER will ask you questions about the WAREHOUSE!

If you like taking all the blame, but giving credit for accomplishments to your managers for playing on their phones all day Robertson Electric is the place for you!

All 5 star reviews were written by employees who were given incentives to do so.

I say this as being one of those employees who did such a thing, i regret doing so.

Honestly all the management reviews are true, only apply for this company if you are desperate.

Management is awful
Order Picker/Packer (Former Employee) –  New Huntington rd3 January 2019
Current managers and supervisors are all friends of friends or family members in higher positions then themselves. This leads to people in positions of power who should not have that power.

For example supervisors should be helping new employees learn the job instead of playing on their phones, doing personal finances in the office, refusing to be proactive in solving issues, listening to suggestions from employees actually working in the warehouse.

Speaking up on these issues marks you as a bad apple and you are quickly removed and replaced, or are given the hardest orders to make you leave voluntarily.

You are either in the "In group" quickly or are the "trouble" group.

Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) –  New huntington rd10 December 2018
Unless you become friends with management right away you will have no chance for advancement.

Pay is minimum wage, and supervisors will pick on you if you mess up once or twice. Leading to you being on all their radars.

The guys you work with were great.

Robertson is a great place to work!
Marketing Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Vaughan, ON23 October 2018
Robertson is my first full time job since graduating from university and I can honestly say that is has raised my expectations for any place I work in the future! I enjoy the work I do and I never struggle to find a balance between my work life and personal life.

Management is extremely understanding and supportive. You aren't just another number to them. I've found them to be encouraging and helpful during my time at Robertson and I truly feel like they want to help me succeed in my career.

I've only ever had positive experiences with my coworkers and the job culture is very relaxed and supportive. Everyone is willing to help out and point you in the right direction. Robertson is a great place to work and I can see myself working here well into the future!
Pros
workplace independence, you can have an opinion, great management and support system, lots of give back to the employees such as free lunches and an apparel program

No training . They throw you into the lions den and expect you to figure it out so be prepared to learn as you go if you’re given the opportunity. Constant swearing and yelling from extremely rude employees . Loud cackling laughter all day ( bring the Advil) If you’re not crass and vulgar you won’t be accepted. My suggestion is to keep looking or if you get an offer sleep with one eye open
Pros
Free lunches you leave early

Awful staff foul language all day no management
