Banquet Server in Richmond, BC

Not worth working for
F&B was a non unionized department. Sometimes evening shifts ended after midnight. I had to take night buses very late at night at about 1am - 2am from Richmond back to Vancouver. Approached the manager regarding the possibility of getting a taxi voucher if shift ends that late at night but was told that there were no vouchers given to employees and it was my responsibility to safely go home after work. Such profitable establishment can not even provide a taxi voucher for employees who had to work at the evening event, clean up after it was over and set everything up for the next one during one shift. Hard to imagine building a solid career there… A few employees tried to transfer to another department for a better career opportunity but were rejected..

A job to pay your bills
It is a job that you can pay your bills but not a career. Work scheduled by seniority, new staff usually work night shifts or graveyard. Most of the time, the manager will cut off your work time. Tips were good.
