Fast paced, metric driven work environment. Constant pressure to do med checks, work short staffed and maximize company revenue. Would not recommend for long term.

Higher pay

Payment much higher than competitive Pharmacies . Under a management team unlike all under a single manager. You have opportunities to seek higher teams if you have any greviences

Productive and fun environment

There is a lot of support from management. I enjoy working with all of my coworkers. It is a great place to work. Customers say we are all very friendly and that is why they shop at our Rexall in Acton, Halton Hills.

Meh place to work

Management was not the best, definitely not treated fairly, especially based on gender and age.. pay could've been better. Co workers were amazing. Some flexibility in the schedule but be expected to work every weekend when part time

Understaffed, overworked, underpaid, under-appreciated

Here, you constantly make the trade off of a minimum standard of patient care for managing an unmanageable workload. And your own well-being (in addition to your patients’ well-being) is on bought time. Be forewarned, this place is a gongshow. I’ve worked in 20+ Rexalls across Canada - not a single one wasn’t a tire fire.Why patients come here, I’ll never know.

Team oriented and goal focused work environment.

Everyday had it's own unique challenges. That was the fun part of working in the retail area of the pharmacy. You always had little deadlines to meet. Setting up sale signs, doing a planogram, or just putting out an order before the day was over. This was all part of the daily rush and excitement. Getting to know customers that also become a part of your little work family. People that call you by name and ask you how that cold is coming along? That's the best part about working at Rexall is the people that you meet and the people that you help.

Too much stress

At Rexall in Orillia you could cut the stress level with a butter knife. Not to friendly and the manager is not kind or friendly manner. Plus there is mold and mild in the building and the isle are too narrow. Though the pharmacy is very nice and understanding. The rest of the store not so much

Just your typical drug store

Nothing special, it's your typical drug store, you're expected to do everything in the front of shop, by yourself, usually only you and a keyholder/manager for the shift.

Very stressful and low pay means constant turnover

I will start with the good first. I learned a lot, especially from the first pharmacy manager I worked with because he actually cared about the patients and the pharmacy... there were 3 total within a year. It was a good clinical/customer service/retail experience to add to my resume.That's about all the good now the bad. This is not a job that you can leave at work. I was eating and sleeping this job. I had nightmares that I was filling endless prescriptions because the stress was so high. There usually wasn't enough staff to handle the high volume of patients so I expected rudeness from co-workers and others on a daily basis. When the pandemic hit, it took several months to install protective barriers and provide PPE so I could have had the virus ten times over by the time we were finally protected from the public. I wanted to officially advance to a higher position with higher pay but there was barely any time for training so that didn't happen before I quit. Speaking of which, the pay was atrocious; it's minimum wage and expect to put in at least a year or have another raging pandemic before that number goes up at all, and that's if they even 'have the money' (aka are willing) to pay more. Unless you are a tech you will make nowhere near a living wage by yourself and certainly not anything to save for a future. My feet were in constant pain and I still have damage years later that I'm trying to get rid of one at a time. Most people who do this job do the bare minimum so there will probably only be 2 or 3 people actually working hard, which makes the load all the more stressful, -

It could be enjoyable it depends on what Pharmacist you work with, unionized

I worked at rexall for a long time when I first started it was an awesome place to work, awesome pharmacists and staff. Then the cutbacks happened and there was hardly any staff. Terrible pharmacists depending on which rexall you worked at. There still is some good staff out there, but head office and the pharmacists push you to the limit.

Good management, good co-workers. Very slow store, boring at times. Good customers. Schedules are good, posted on time with enough notice to adapt to.

A Good stepping stone to a different career

Fast paced environment with always something to do. Applicable training is always shown by someone else rather than access to practical courses for training. Slow pay progression, having to deal with thieves, often understaffed due to budget constraints, a bit behind on some technological advancements of similar businesses. Almost always friendly welcoming staff that make the job very enjoyable. A great place for students and those who don't like to stand still, and those wanted a first job. 3.5/5

Just like any other retail pharmacies

metric driven, no overlap, lack of staff...But colleagues are very nice to work with. Basically no lunch break, and you just have to run around in the store non-stop

Great opportunities for advancement, and growth

I personally have had an amazing experience with Rexall. As an Assistant Manager I was able to help the growth of my team, and see them flourish in their day to day roles within the store but also outside of the store. My district leader has been exceptional, and really promotes internal growth with both hourly and salaried employees and genuinely cares about their successes.

Good Variety

This is a minimum wage position but there is room for advancement if you wait your turn. As union, seniority gets first dibs. If you like keeping busy with a variety of tasks, this will be a good fit. Wish I could have stayed but cost of living was a factor, and having a second job often over lapped even though I communicated my availability. Good for someone with double income household.

Relaxed

Great unionized job for part timers, but pay scale keeps you stuck at close to minimum wage for years. They expect a lot from full timers and management without paying much more. Job environment depends a lot on the store manager

Stressful environment. No staff

Management does not care that you are understaffed and overworked. Been working here long time. Never was given a raise. Management does not acknowledge hard work. You are just a number
