A nice place to work. All stores at different operate the same way so you can easily fit on to whichever store you find yourself.
Pharmacist (Current Employee) - Windsor, ON - 13 October 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedAll stores at various locations operate in almost the same way so you can easily fit in to whichever store you find yourself. Unlike some stores Rexall takes time yo train their staff do you can easily fit into the system and training is always ongoing. As a relief pharmacist new on the job, I found out that the inclusiveness culture depends on the manager of the store. Some stores are more welcoming and accommodating and willing to accept you than others but overall it is a really good place to work.
Pros
Job life balance
Cons
Long hours

I wish I never left Rexall. It was foolish to return to Shoppers Drug Mart.
Pharmacy Assistant (Former Employee) - Sarnia, ON - 6 November 2023
I prefer Rexall. I think it's the best store I have ever been to. The overall workplace culture was great. I felt comfortable being there and I was able to focus on my work and never had to worry about being bullied since everyone was so nice to one another. Respectful coworkers and customers. The entire store looks so clean and organized and proper (but never too bright) lighting. I also love how advanced the pharmacy software is! The electricity went out a few times, but that's not the store's fault.
Pros
So many free lunches on a frequent basis and the managers were very kind.
Cons
The work-related online courses were to be done at work instead of at home.

Good place to work with chance for advancement

Very good place to work. Good people, DM in calgary is excellent. Company actually cares about their employees. Retail is retail so you know what to expect from that.

extreme stressful environment with no support
Staff Pharmacist (Former Employee) - Victoria, BC - 6 September 2023
Upper management demands pharmacists unethical, unreasonable service to patient with no support. Always minimal number of worker at a shift. Part time has no benefit even if you work more than 32 hrs/w. Upper management will threaten you if you don't do med reviews. This company is the worst company I ever worked for.
Pros
a little higher pay than other company
Cons
anything else

Too many egos and management had no interest in working to solve issues
Shipping and Receiving (Former Employee) - St. Catharines, ON - 6 September 2023
I was very disappointed with how the manager handled the situation with me All they do is check cameras and they have no idea what's going on They expect you to be in multiple places at once and not think for yourself Stay away. I left a good job who wanted me to become supervisor to go there and what a mistake that was. Thankfully since then I've received 4 job offers who know my worth

Pharmacy practice nightmare
Pharmacy Manager (Current Employee) - British Columbia - 25 August 2023
Rexall despite the so called changes and improvements is the worst place to be as a Pharmacy professional. Among many of the issues the following hold true. 1- Required to work long hours with no overtime pay 2- Minimal staffing 3- Pressure to bill for services not needed by the patient 4- No work life balance 5- Upper leadership gaps 6- No direction or focus 7- Little moral or financial incentives compared to what is being demanded
Pros
Store discount
Cons
Many other things

Good place to work
Pharmacy Cashier/Customer Service (Current Employee) - Victoria - 17 August 2023
A pretty good place to work, but mostly the smaller stores. The environment is inclusive and relaxed, and I’ve formed friendships with everyone in my store. In a larger store on the mainland, I noticed that higher seniority employees alienated and excluded younger and newer employees, with no help from HR. The schedules are flexible, and great for school, but I’ve found it’s difficult to get full time hours when needed. In terms of pay, it is definitely not a livable wage in BC. I’ve expanded to working in pharmacy packing prescriptions and making blister packs, but have seen no pay increase even with taking on more responsibility. I currently cannot afford to move out working 5 days, 30ish hours a week. It’s a good job for starting out, in school, or looking for something to occupy you post-retirement.
Pros
Good discount
Cons
Non-livable wage

High stress
Pharmacy Assistant (Former Employee) - Kamloops, BC - 22 June 2023
High stress, fast paced job but team members make it worth it. Worst part is just rude/disrespectful patients. Very busy pharmacy with a lot of prescriptions to fill everyday so a lot of people aren’t happy with the wait time.

Poor Training
Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) - Ontario - 28 May 2023
Working there, hardly any training occurred. A lot of negativity, and you don’t learn much as a leader. Often times get pushed and not shown anything. It’s a poor company

Terrible management
Post Office Clerk (Former Employee) - White Rock, BC - 17 May 2023
After working at the whiterock location, I would never work there again or recommend anyone to work in that store. The customers are amazing and friendly, but the store manager is unprofessional, not willing to stand up for employees (especially during the pandemic), i have actively seen them ignore customers when asked to speak to management, and I was left alone at the post office over the Christmas holidays with little to no help. Your sanity is not worth minimum wage or a shifty manager.
Pros
Customers are friendly
Cons
Terrible management

Very busy at times and not a lot of support from managers
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Burlington, ON - 12 May 2023
Rexall is a good part time job for student and people in high school. I mostly enjoyed my time there but it can be stressful when you don’t have enough people to help out.

Not awesome not horrible
Key Holder (Current Employee) - Ontario - 28 April 2023
I would only apply as a cashier. Terrible uniforms. High turn over at head office. Dealing with theft constantly without support on the floor. Huge work load and not enough hours to efficiently complete tasks. If your neighbouring store has issues it becomes your issues. I have excellent coworkers. No work life balance.
