Nakiska Ski Hill has been a great place to work this past winter. With benefits such as free snowboarding/skiing, free lessons for staff and the best winter accommodation offered - the ski hill is a great place for anyone looking for seasonal winter work

Steping stone Job. Dont make a career out of it.
Safety Culture is non existant.

No loyalty to hard workers. Sucking up outshines hard work.

Most lifers are very unhappy to still be stuck there.

Sad thing is it could be a good place to work as the actual work is good.

Untrustworthy. Very sketchy management. Pay was quite bad at about $12.00 an hour. The management swept things under the rug (theft, harassment, etc). Work colleagues were fun though.

Not a great ski resort to work at. They like to pretend that they care but in reality you are just another number. I can understand why this is, with so many seasonal staff that are gone is 6 months.

Work becomes a bit scarce over certain periods for many departments which means that you will more than likely need a second job. But when you have a second job RCR will expect you to give them priority and drop everything, otherwise they will threaten to take your ski pass.

Culture is great but that is purely due to the other staff members being fun. They do a few staff parties during the season where you will get 2 beers and some pretty average food.

My strong advice would be to just get a job in town and pay for a season pass. Only thing that makes it slightly worth it is being able to ski on your lunch break.
Pros
Ski during lunch times
Cons
Payed peanuts, high commitment expectations that are not reciprocated, fluctuating hours.

I worked three jobs in one day. Three restaurants. Snowboarded to all of them.
This is where I grew as a person and knew that I was meant to be in the customer industry.

Management was amazing. I was fortunate enough to grow a bit in that company.

I got married at the top of Lake Louise, and then we had to move in order further our life. Lake Louise is a National park, and you can not purchase a home. The hardest part was having to leave.

I met some of my best friends to this day working there. That is the best part.
Pros
Ski to and from work
Cons
Sitting on a chairlift in -32 degree weather on your way to work

Thank you for your review. We owned and operated Lake Louise Ski Area until 2008. You will find the same opportunities and experiences at all of our resorts, with the exception of the weather. Nakiska Ski Area and our BC Resorts (Fernie Alpine Resort, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Kimberley Alpine Resort) have a higher daily average temperature.

This position provided me with excellent entry level opportunities in the accounting field. It provided a great work and life balance. The best part was having a season ski pass privilege.

Management was the worst i worked for because i felt like a number in a corporation.

I become a much better skier and snowboarder

My co-workers were great and easy going

hardest part of the job was not getting any work and living off almost no money

Most enjoyable part of the day was being able to ski and snowboard some of the worlds best terrain and snow!
