They really do try hard to meet diverse needs while working within limits imposed from outside of their control. Not rating as 5 as they are quick to jump on the band wagon with new initiatives/technology and it feels like we work out the kinks to the benefit of boards who may buy in a little later. Sometimes I wish we’d drag our feet a little more to preserve staff stamina and lessen fatigue over needing to get excited over the next new thing.

Worked for them as a teacher. The organization is typical for most school boards. They treat people fairly within the bounds of the collective agreement. No complaints.

A great place to work! Supportive co-workers and great, hard working students. As with all of Ontario Teachers - Teachers are protected from harassment and bullying from Administration.

Great work environment

Professional, friendly environment. Training opportunities, great hours, support available. The days starts at 8:30 ends around 3:45 it is a busy day but very fulfilling. Watching kids learn is the most enjoyable part.

Great place to work

Computer troubleshooting and repair, new system roll-outs, installation and configuration of smartboards, projectors, printers, IOS devices, extensive traveling between worksites, extensive customer service, cabling and network repair, etc.

Secondary Teacher (Former Employee) - Petawawa, ON - 17 December 2014

This board offers no jobs. They have measures in place to cut back on hiring, eject teachers from the board, and offer zero job security. Annual redundancy is about 50% of the board's employees. Only senior teachers manage to hold on to their jobs, regardless of qualifications and often do so by teaching subjects they are not qualified in. There is even no means to acquiring supply work. You must be hired at the board level and the board only hires from redundant teachers, reserving spots for the most senior redundant teachers. If you want to teach here, YOU NEVER WILL.
