Not a bad place to go

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
People are not bad right here, company support a lot, tools and benefits. If you are looking for more money, better work on your own. If you are the one who follow the rules, this is the place.

Pros

Good benefits pro teams

Cons

Less earnings

get your batting average up or beware

Can be very stressful as it's fast-paced and they want you to sell, sell, sell! There's lots of work though and very good pay. It's a good entry-level HVAC job.

Pathetic, toxic

You have to be available 7 days a week. Harassment on daily basis, favouritism, no life balance, nasty management, nepotism, greedy and not customer oriented company

Pros

pay

Cons

They alowed for calls at home base employment

I worked through Adecco Temp Agency and they provided customer leads to call. It was a one year contract that ended in 3 years so I was very fortunate to work on this unique project while the position was available.

Most Toxic Work Environment Imaginable

Work here if you want to end up in a Psychiatric Hospital. Pressure on technicians to force Reviews on clients is rediculous. Management lies and harasses workers. Discrimination is terrible. Prefers to give hours to un-licensed technicians, while licensed techs sit at home. Does not follow provincial labour standards. Can take months to get payed. Hands down the worst employer in Canada

Terrible environment to work in

Completely sales driven, you're not a technician your salesman everyday you're getting in trouble for something, you stepped left you got shot in the foot you step right you get shot in the foot. This is not just my experience this is every technician that's ever work there experience.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Pay trimmed. If you work at Reliance always watch to see if your pay trimmed

Poor

Company was generous in terms of compensation, the work load was manageable however the targets for the front line technicians were unreasonable. Managing these employees was difficult as it in my view, there were far too many targets and growth was imposed as a higher priority than technically fixing perfectly good equipment. Lots of attrition in this branch employees and managers.

Awful management, ran by used car salesmen

Money is ok at reliance for service/installers but you deal with a lot of stress due to awful, uneducated management. Managers have all the power, there is no union. Installers are "task rate"/ piece work and are forced to do extra work and told that its included in an invisible installation "umbrella". This job might be good for office people But for good, hardworking tradesmen this place is awful

Working environment

I’ve been working at reliance for about three months in the plumbing division. And I’ve seen nothing but amazing things. The managers are awesome and reasonable and overall it’s a great place to be employed.

Good People, Good Company, Good Life Balance

I worked in the retention department for Reliance or Customer Solutions Team. They are a great company to work for. Home in the evenings. Only 1 in 3 weekends worked and a lieu day for the Saturday worked. Full benefits, good vacation time. It was not like that when I first started but they transferred a manager in to replace the first one I had and they were amazing as far as getting things back to where they should be. I would highly recommend working here. No job is perfect but there is a lot that they are doing right.

nepotism versus meritocracy

in reliance nepotism is completely explicit. i wonder how an unprofessional and ignorant individual is selected as a manager and dictates the knowledgeable technicians how to troubleshoot or serve the customer.

Stressful

They only care about growth. If you're not selling you're not going to be working. If you can sell them other performance metrics will be overlooked.

Excellent culture

Long hours and huge work load but awesome pay and best in class training. Super smart management. Not for everyone. Lots of meetings, 100% commission but they teach you how to do your job and provide you with all you need to be successful. The rest is you and how you commit to the job and follow the process.

Sell, sell, sell

2 tier contract, pre 2012 employees get anything they want All management want you to do is sell new equipment, protection plans etc If targets are not met you get singled out and put on a performance improvement plan, just to put more pressure on you to sell they don't care if you can fix the problem, they want sales men not service techs

Horrible Management

Management is not professional at this workplace. It’s like you’re in high school with the mean club on one side and the people with integrity on the other side. Unfortunately, speaking up and being honest will put you in the bad books with this company and speaking to HR is no help as they do not help. They do not embrace change; everything is a band aid solution. Leadership will spent most of ccthe day gossiping about employees, not a professional beiproductive. The employees they don’t like they give them a hard time and bully them if they don’t conform to a “yes” person. Staff have no say in what they would lotochange when it comes to the culture

Embarrassment to anyone with a red seal certificate.

Again as everyone said. Completely sales driven. No beef with management other then acting like tough guys while they hide behind a phone. “Darrill”. Then when face to face your best friends. If your shady dishonest and enjoy filling other people pockets. This is the place for you. Gave me under 2000 for a months wor.
