Can be very stressful as it's fast-paced and they want you to sell, sell, sell! There's lots of work though and very good pay. It's a good entry-level HVAC job.

High Pressure Sales !

All Reliance Cares about are SALES ! They will pull you into the Office and threaten to Fire you if you Do NOT bring in enough monthly HVAC Leads. You are CONSTANTLY Under a Very Fine Microscope in this Company !You are NOT Rewarded for being a Good Technician. Technicians Lie to customers in Order to SELL Furnaces and AC's !

Pros

Lots of Overtime Pay, if you want it.

Cons

High pressure sales !

stressful and unfair enviroment

Terrible place to work, stressful , unfair and demanding . All is about selling people plans , furnaces and airs even if they dont need it.You have to comply with a minimum quote of sales , reviews, and quotes or you are in trouble..Micromanagement to the bone constantly. No appreciation for your efforts and almost no family or social life..No proper training on new products and very much you have to learn on your own. Managers with no knowledge at all and with double face constantly, all they care is about their bonuses at the end of the year..No good pay comparing with other companies ..Don t waste your time here ...!!!! ,there are better places to work out there.!!

Pros

Bank holidays

Cons

schedule, pay, no training.

nepotism versus meritocracy

in reliance nepotism is completely explicit. i wonder how an unprofessional and ignorant individual is selected as a manager and dictates the knowledgeable technicians how to troubleshoot or serve the customer.

Sell, sell, sell

2 tier contract, pre 2012 employees get anything they want All management want you to do is sell new equipment, protection plans etc If targets are not met you get singled out and put on a performance improvement plan, just to put more pressure on you to sell they don't care if you can fix the problem, they want sales men not service techs

Sell, sell, sell then lie to customers to sell more

As a service tech you are constantly pressured to sell. The day starts off with a daily tracker email showing what everyone sales numbers are for that month. No matter what you sell it's never enough. You will then get at least one phone call from your service manager asking what you sold that day and have to explain why you didn't sell more that day. Your selling quota is 18.9% and if you do reach that you are still pressured to sell more.

Horrible

Look else where . It’s toxic from the top down . The only position worse than being on the tools is being management , they are treated worse than garbage and verbally bullied. High pressure sales environment with 15 sales leads a month required if not you are punished/ shamed. Hours are not guaranteed and you will be sent home . Bonuses are not guaranteed and they will not be paid out if you don’t keep on top of it

Encouraged to lie to customers

You're not allowed to have a life outside of work. You're encouraged to lie to customers to get them to buy equipment they don't need. Their "technicians" are just salesman dressed up as actual tradesman. The pressure to sell is constant and unbelievable. Used car salesman have nothing on Reliance's high pressure sales techniques. Reliance is toxic.

Pros

None

Cons

Encouraged to lie to people.

Pushed for sales at all costs

They don't care if you fix anything and would prefer if you didn't. You start your day with three or four emails about your sales leads from the previous day and will be pushed the whole shift to get more leads for equipment sales by any means possible. If you cannot or will not do that, you'll be written up.

Pros

Nice tools. Company phone.

Cons

Techs bragging about talking customers into sales... It's weird.

Great pay

Good position, good pay, unionized in most branches. As long as you can follow rules and be self motivated there's tons of opportunity to excel. Lots of opportunity to move positions or around the company.

Pros

Lots of incentives, great pay, overtime opportunity, position advancement, no lay offs.

Cons

Weekends and/or evening shifts

Great working environment with many opportunities to reach your full potential. As a service technician here I really feel a sense of community within the organization. Good honest environment, wanting to help our clients to the best of our ability no matter the circumstance. If you want career growth, and a sense of pride; Reliance is the way to go.

Sale oriented mentality company

Dont waste your time here.!!.This company cares only about sales for HVAC products and plans. Tons of pressure for service techs and installers to get sales leads . Micromanagement to the extreme and very lack of training to serve new equipment You have to learn on your own basically...company is growing like crazy but the pay to techs doesnt reflect that specially for task people and installers compare to other companies....High levels of stress every day and bad schedule hours..No moral ethics at all when it comes to sell products to customers....Just sales ,sales and more sales !!!!

Ok company to work for

Pay was decent. The benefits are good and they have the option to contribute to RRSP. Did not pay in accordance with your licence. A gas fitter two was making the same as a gas fitter one.
