I was employed for 10yrs with reliance have seen many management changes work is readily available for technicians and pay is market comparable but the work and environment is stressful and work life /balance is horrible managed by upper levels managers are told to micro manage and harrass staff to boost productivity and sales definitely not a long term career choice company

We are reliance

Seemed like an amazing company to work for. But after a year, things started to change. Started with a budget of leads that had to be done every month. And if they were not met, the manager and then the workers would be punished with some performance program. Constant emails on your failings, sales, nps reviews, etc. Used parts from older appliances were used in order to save money. Managers most of the time had no experience in the feild, which led to fustrating conversation on how to complete certain jobs. An extremely unethical place of work. The only thing decent was the money and benefits. They need to change there business model before it's to late and start caring for there employees and customers.

Pros

None

Cons

Management, sales, lack of training

Awful place sales driven

They are driven by nothing but sales. Have teams of sales technicians that mislead customers into renting new systems. They expect the service technician to get minimum sales targets that are unachievable if you are honest.

Sales driven

Dishonest

Only interested in selling I am a tech that treats people how I would want to to treated . Reliance uses there service agreements with customers to get in the house to then sell sell sell and if you dont hit the sales lead targets you are disciplined with days off without pay. They micro manage you. They are not interested in training techs to be the best.

Awful management, ran by used car salesmen

Money is ok at reliance for service/installers but you deal with a lot of stress due to awful, uneducated management. Managers have all the power, there is no union. Installers are "task rate"/ piece work and are forced to do extra work and told that its included in an invisible installation "umbrella". This job might be good for office people But for good, hardworking tradesmen this place is awful

If your a professional tradesman, stay away from reliance calgary!

Management has little knowledge on equipment, almost none on how it is installed nor the time it takes to do so. Management is immature and talks behind employees backs to other employees. Nothing is in stock and installers are expected to spend multiple hours on day of install to get said items. Sales are completely useless and have no idea about any aspect of their job and creates more work for everyone else while still being paid the same amount of money. Multiple occasions where customers have threatened sales personnel when installers arrive for multiple reasons. Some of these reasons include being pushy, not being able to speak or understand English, insulting previously installed equipment in customers homes ect... Installers are constantly saving jobs for reliance (sales reps) and are not compensated for doing so. Given broken tools to do jobs which both don't work and are a safety hazard. Hiring both installer's and service techs not mentally or physically equipped to do a proper job. Reliance likes to hire those with a single ticket to do multiple trades or no tickets in order to pay as little as possible. Not disciplining staff members for being high on duty while operating a company vehicle. Shop boy is lazy and has no working knowledge of any trade and therefore is incapable of doing the job and creating work for everyone else. Shop boy some how is able to dictate what little she does to management and forces the skilled educated tradesman to do even more. Paid overtime is a bonus seeing as you have to do so much more work then what your job description is and -

Pros

paid overtime

Cons

Management without experience, management making false promises to both customers and employees, managers talking negatively behind employee's backs, improper tools for the job, improper work vehicles for combined tasks, expectations vs rate of pay, Ontario based business with Ontario type delusions of grandeur and ineptitude.
