No training provided, very poor SOP execution, terrible managers

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Barely any training provided. Training was done "when there's time" which means you can be there for months without knowing everything. The only perks are flexible scheduling and free drinks. Often they would give you very little hours a week. Manager can be hostile and rude to employees.

Bad management

False advertised that they hire full time (they did not). The expectation to work at all locations, but with minimum pay and hours. Weren't getting our tips. Terrible and very confusing management.

Pros

free drinks

Cons

barely any hours

Productive workplace

This job needs you to be calm, patient, friendly, able to communicate, and able to work in high speed with accuracy. Sometimes, when you have a lot of customers, everything needs to be done in a high speed. Also, I would say that knowing how to speak mandarin will also be helpful too since your managers all speak mandarin and it will be easier for you to communicate with them (however, their english is pretty good too). Most importantly, you can make yourself free drinks during your working hours ;)

Poor training

There was no formal training structure as they just tell you to watch training videos and read the training manual. Its a very fast paced and stressful environment where you are constantly moving, however hours are flexible.

Pros

Flexible hours

Cons

Stressful, low wage

Great place to work!

If you like a fast paced environment, I would definitely recommend Real Fruit. Loved my coworkers and is very flexible for hours. Great for students since you get to pick your availability every week.

Pros: Good work environment

Quite good work environment. The management team and the staffs come from different countries. They are all open-minded and willing to teach you patiently. So you can easy to adapt in the company. If you are willing to learn, they can offer you more opportunities.

Stressful environment with poor training

Training can be better, as I had to memorize recipe on my own to actually start making the drinks. It can take time as they don't really try to teach you after showing everything just once. So I practiced making drinks while making free drink. It can get really busy during summer.

Fun place to work

Nice co-workers. Might be a good place for who is looking for a part-time job. Terrible management team with a bad-tempered boss. If you want to pursue your career in this company, you better run.

Terrible leadership that trickles down from CEO and a lot of micromanaging

Hours are flexible for the most part. Co-workers are generally friendly. You get free drinks. It ends there. I have worked in multiple locations and the micromanagement runs rampant. They make changes all the time which causes everything to be disorganized. Scheduling can be a pain, they will release it the night before. Power-tripping CEO who has no issue yelling at his workers in front of customers and making creepy advances on younger female employees. Anybody from upper management is unpleasant to deal with.

Pros

Free Drinks

Cons

Terrible Leadership

Desperate for management, but drives everyone away.

Interview process was great. Quickly went downhill from there. Multiple people hired for the same position only to be filled by a previous employee. Management and culture need some serious work. Prepare to be blamed for other people's mistakes, and to consistently receive work messages even on your days off.

Good company to grow up if you love to work in food industry. The pay is not really high but there is always chance to increase it when you do the good work

Pros

Free drink

Cons

Heavy culture

Fast Paced Enviroment

Scheduling is not the greatest but it is flexible. It's average pace job and not hard to adapt to. Most co-workers are nice and are willing to help you.

Pros

Flexible hours

Cons

Management a bit messy

easy job, bad management

Most of my colleagues who worked here agree with me when I say their management is bad. It's an easy job that requires no previous experience but the management confuses you consistently.

Racist, rude managers, backstabber coworkers

This company is misleading. Managers and employees are unprofessional. The area is not clean. They don't usually wash their equipment with dish soap. Employees are backstabbers.

fun experience

stay lowkey and you'll be fine, moving up is favorable, if you're good and willing to move up, prepare yourself anytime.

Management will constantly contact you on off-hours, no compensation for overtime is ever provided.

Be prepared to work holidays with no pay. Unclear directions from tempered managers. The company runs off of ego and power trips. You get severely underpaid. Workplace culture is non-diverse, non-inclusive. Some employees only understand mandarin, making it tough to communicate. The owner is extremely moody, if you do poorly you will be yelled at in front of other workers. I guess it's good for entry-level experience, but not as long term.

Work and life balance

If you love fruits and a healthy lifestyle, this is the perfect place for you—also, a good starting Point for bartending. If you're not getting hours, there are plenty of other stores you could help out at.

Zero fun and very critical people to work with. Zero sense of diversity.

Working with this company really opened up my eyes. They don’t accept other race/culture very well. If you’re not from their background “race wise” it’s very hard for you to progress. Not a fun environment. People are always looking for something to complain about.

Pros

Good pay, but they make sure to have you work for every penny

Cons

Long hours, six to seven days per week, Rude people to work with, Back stabbers, Zero diversity and lock of improvement

A Broken Organization

I enjoyed the work because a fast paced job means your day flies by but certain members of management are terrible. The owner micro manages everything and makes the job very confusing and quite unbearable. He has created a toxic work environment where other members or management also treat “partners” terribly. You will most likely get yelled at in front of several customers at least once a week and dread going into work.If you are any type of management you work constantly even though you aren’t on the clock. They constantly require you to run errands and the are always contacting you at all hours even on your days off. The schedule comes out the week of and it is normally very late. This means you are sometimes up until 10pm waiting to see if you have to open the next day. Once you get the schedule there’s almost always some type of issue with it. If you decide to apply for this job I would recommend you seriously reconsider.

Pros

Free drinks

Cons

Everything else

Bad company with the WORST managers!

Worst place to work- so mismanaged!! You never get credit for the work you do, you always work overtime without pay and the company does not respect it's employees at all!!! Management is absolutely out to take advantage of you.

Pros

sometimes discounted drinks

Cons

everything negative you can think of!

Only recommended as a very temporary job

I'm only able to speak for the Real Fruit locations in Toronto. I've worked at four different stores and would say the training isn't bad a lot of informative videos and booklets to review, also you'll learn to work in a fast-paced environment. If you need flexible hours a great place to work, availability is handed in every week so you aren't required to work on certain days. However, does get stressful and many managers will yell at you for small mistakes. I found a lot of the employees/management passive-aggressive. Depending on the location you work you may receive tips while in others you won't. For the amount of labor and stress put on by management, the minimum wage isn't worth it. The job may suffice for a short period of time but really depends on the managers of the certain locations and staff as well.

Pros

Free drinks. Flexible hours, Collaborative Environment

Cons

Can be a toxic work environment. A lot of physical labor for minimum wage.
