Flexible, just tiring
Barista (Former Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 19 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedEasy to book off, flexible hours and depending on location not very busy and a good first job. It's average, don't expect anything much out of it. Can be tiresome and dirty depending on location.

Exhausting and unfair environment
Barista/Cashier (Former Employee) - Ottawa, ON - 19 September 2023
If you want a student part time job for a few months this may work but keep in mind the management is unfair. The managers only treats you nicely if you tell them what they like to hear, also, apply if you don’t mind them talking behind your back in their own language and they will make you quit. This is why this company is always hiring because of high turnover rates.

Toxic and Place of Gossiping
Barista/Cashier (Current Employee) - Scarborough Town Center - 23 August 2023
Workmates and managers are very toxic. They won’t recognize your efforts, you will only get promoted when you gossip with them. They will only use you. After using you, you are useless to them

Great scheduling flexibility
Barista/Cashier (Current Employee) - Burlington, ON - 6 July 2023
How you feel going into work will depend on how busy your store is and who you work with. Busier stores can be stressful and of course wherever you work there will be some bad apples. Lots and lots of side duties with minimal staff at any given time means you have to work very quickly . Overall the selling point for this job is that every single week you submit your availability for the next week. Very convenient.

Poor management place
Never get appreciated for my hard work. The management is really poor, some of the managers can't even control their emotions and let their anger out on the employees. I don't understand how did they get the management position, all they do is peel and chop mangos all day long. No tips added( very few and don't have a tip in the payment machine). Also, the processed materials are very cheap. They labelled it "Honey" but actually it's honey-flavoured syrup. I feel bad when charging people's money for such a fake drink.

Competitive pay and benefits but no work and life balance
The culture in Real Fruit Bubble Tea is very intense. However, they compensate well for their good performers. The con is there is no work and life balance.

Horrible managers
Team Member (Former Employee) - Nepean, ON - 28 June 2023
I worked here for about a year and it was definitely a traumatizing experience. The managers are really rude and take forever to train you. When you start, you will most likely be on cashier for months until you actually move up. The only good thing about working here was the free drinks and the schedule flexibility.

Probably the most atrocious workplace
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Burlington, ON - 27 June 2023
This company simply does not care for their baristas and if anyone reading this works there as a barista, GET A CLASS ACTION STARTED ASAP YOU WILL WIN.
Pros
Free drinks, management pay
Cons
Everything

A chaotic workplace
Engineering Officer (Former Employee) - Markham, ON - 18 May 2023
I do not really know the boss. But the whole system is a mess. The new person will go to do the bartender no matter which position you are in. There is no standard recipe all depends on which trainer does the training. you can see this company is always hiring people. Most workers are students there. The only reason this company gets bigger and bigger is they use 1 dollar mango to sell 10 dollars to you.
Pros
Free drinks in the work time
Cons
all mess

Terrible
Manager (Current Employee) - Quebec Province - 11 May 2023
CEO is terrible, always yelling for absolutely no reason no matter what, salary not respected, disrespected constantly, everything is messy, no one knows the same thing, everyone does things different and you have to adapt to THEIR way of doing it if you are on shift with them.
Pros
Free drinks on shift
Cons
anything you can think of.

Jobs at Real Fruit Bubble Tea
Toxic workplace, only good for the free drinks
Barista/Cashier (Former Employee) - Ottawa, ON - 9 May 2023
Real fruit bubble tea has massive problems, the biggest of which being the management and culture there. Some senior staff and managers are incredibly rude and berating, on my first shift I was screamed at by my trainer and it was an incredibly tense environment the majority of the time. The training is subpar at best as there’s no official regimen, you’re thrown into shifts with random people, and you’re at the mercy of whether or not they decide to actually teach you how to make the drinks or whether you’ll be stuck on cash. I didn’t complete training in my couple of months working at Real Fruit, partially because I was receiving so few shifts that I didn’t have the opportunity (although they are very good when it comes to allowing you to choose hat days you can and cannot work, incredibly flexible from week to week) and I felt judged by managers and some senior staff when I didn’t know how to do something because I hadn’t been taught. Overall, if you have an incredibly thick skin and can handle very fast paced and tense workplaces and don’t mind getting only a few shifts a week, it isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t recommend it over something else in fast food.
Pros
Free bubble tea (you can take pretty much as much as you want)
Cons
Toxic work environment

Good for student
Cashier (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 9 May 2023
Have employee discount on drinks, minimum wage. Basically good for students. You will be trained to do cashier and prepping before learning to do the drinks.

CEO/owner is the issue
Barista (Current Employee) - Niagara, ON - 2 May 2023
CEO is just angry he can be nice if he likes you but he blames managers if people quit. Easy to work at just a lot of learning. Can be super fun if coworkers are nice! Great place for a first job!
Pros
Free drinks
Cons
Lots of tiring cleaning

Toxic and untrustworthy upper management
Store Manager in Training (Former Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 30 April 2023
Horrible and very shady upper management, culture is extremely toxic the longer you work. The reason people stay in this company is the raises they dish out to people to bribe them to stay because people are constantly quitting. There is no sense of pride in making the subpar drinks and is honestly quite embarrassing promoting these ‘fresh’ fruits when everything is being frozen and added to crazy amounts of sugar. Upper management are arrogant and will always find some way to blame you regardless of no wrongdoings. Middle managers are the nicest people you will meet but they have to take the brunt of the terrible management and is ultimately a test of whether they will get promoted or quit themselves. The company is always expanding branches but are always losing workers to keep up with the workload, therefore pressuring managers to work needlessly harder, having no work-to-life balance. Do not get trapped in this company and please do not visit any of their branches. All they have going on in their drinks is sugar, nothing more.
Pros
Easy to get a raise
Cons
Get used to being berated

over workload - no day off
Store Manager (Former Employee) - GTA, ON - 20 April 2023
No day off at all. You still have to go to the store or deal with many things in your day off. Poor management Not many managers communicate well with staff at the store. Easy to get angry. Poor training

High turnover workplace
Manager (Former Employee) - Markham, ON - 17 April 2023
The workplace has a very high turnover. They are constantly looking for new workers. It is good if you need a new job fast, but the work environment may not be too good.

They hate customers for some reason?
Barista (Current Employee) - North York, ON - 12 April 2023
My experience working here was quite poor. At my store in particular, all the senior workers are peculiarly standoffish with customers. It seems like they really don't care about customer service at all.

Fun workplace
Barista (Current Employee) - Etobicoke, ON - 27 March 2023
Everyone is friendly and joyful. All the people there are very welcoming and understanding. Managers are easy to deal with and they are very flexible with everyone's schedule

Normal cashier job
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 19 March 2023
Nothing good , nothing bad. Just a normal cashier job you found anywhere. Can be tired when the store is busy. The drinks are free and you get a short break according to Ontario law.

Mid tier, only good as a side job
Barista/Cashier (Current Employee) - Ottawa, ON - 13 March 2023
As said in the title, it's only a great job due to the free bubble tea and if you're committed to receiving/doing casual part-time work. 5-10 hours is reasonable enough if you're not looking to make a lot of money and also to deal with any problematic management involved. Not everyone lacks an empathetic and considerate manager role, but honestly speaking some should not be given the title for how they treat team members, let alone new hires. Worked at this company for a few years and it's honestly done some damage for me mentally just due to the poorly compensation of working overtime in any sort. And also the lack of cultural judgement and awareness is so brutally transparent that they don't care if it's "nasty" to be acting that way.
