Great job, always great people and great managment. It can be an insanely chaotic and busy work environment but thats to be expected of a festival job. Always a great time and I’m excited to go back every year.

Running on the same schedule as the artists
Making sure they have all the tools to put on the best show at their disposition. Management is flooded with calls, very important to know your task and have initiative.

Associate, RBC Career Launch Program (Current Employee) –  Ottawa, ON29 January 2018
The career launch program has been an amazing experience. I would recommend this program as a starting position with 3 very unique rotations. in branch, community partners then internal give well rounded exposure.

Good Stepping Stone
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON10 January 2018
The more I applied myself, the less interesting it became. However, it was very rewarding at first and can be seen as a great opportunity. At the end of the day it wasn't exactly what I wanted to do. But my co-workers loved their jobs and the environment was definitely much better than I expected.

Poor management, little advancement
Travel agent (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON21 November 2017
I worked there for over two years.

PROS:
*Benefits after 6 months full time
*Vacation time. Starts at 2 weeks, goes up to 8 weeks. You bid for time off. You don't just get anything you ask for.
*Hires good people

CONS:
*hard to get time off that you would like
*hard to advance in the workplace
*low pay
*poor management
*shifts are based on call volume so its not unusual to have shifts repeatedly cancelled last minute in the summer (unpaid)
*long shifts
*Poor training
*Refuses references or won't return reference checks.

MY BIGGEST REASON FOR NOT RECOMMENDING THIS COMPANY:

I have seen time and time again, that when people leave they refused to give them references. They always either had an excuse or would just not get back to them. People who were reliable and hard working.

For this reason, I would say don't waste your time. You think it's a stepping stone but it's not if they won't even give a reference. It's unfair and not respectable.

If you want a similar job, try American Express. Very similar job, better pay, better management and a more respectable company.
Pros
Benefits, Vacation.

Food Service Worker (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON18 August 2017
Getting a full pass to the festival was a huge bonus, but hours can be weird for shifts. Working can be hectic, especially in food service. However, there was always something to do.
Pros
Free food, full festival pass, choose your shifts
Cons
Odd hours, occasional rude customer

Relationship Mgr,Government & Crown Corp Banking (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON12 April 2017
RBC is great place to work - the company is very supportive of career advancement while at the same time providing opportunities to learn as much as possible. They do require a lot of hard work however it is fair and you feel motivated through great management. The most enjoyable part of my jobs were the client interactions and probably the most challenging at times was time management. I highly recommend RBC as a place to work!

Rbc
Client Advisor (Current Employee) –  Ottawa, ON15 December 2016
Not the busiest location, clients come in to inquire about their account, statements, loans. Learn how to do new transactions everyday since every client have different needs and request. I work with great people, wouldn't relocate because of the people I work with. Hardest part of my job is to make sure that every transaction are done successfully in a timely manner and the most enjoyable part of working for RBC is the network area, all the contacts you are able to make here at this branch is exceptional.

Commercial Account Manager (Current Employee) –  Ottawa, ON15 June 2016
Good employer and place to start a career. Great training for the commercial account manager in Toronto.
The hardest part of the job is the balance between life and work. Be ready to do extra shift. Poor management team, a lot of employee turnover.

Challenging and rewarding
Associate Advisor / Teletype Operator (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON19 May 2016
Working and dealing with various dominant personalities. Must be flexible, a self-starter, and work with minimum supervision. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required, along with an attention to detail. Problem solving and thinking outside the box is a definite asset. Not being able to comply with a request, due to regulatory reasons, can sometimes be quite challenging, however, some of the close relationships developed can be very rewarding at the same time.

This was A Volunteer Position
Volunteer (Former Employee) –  Ottawa, ON10 May 2016
I want to make certain that it is known that this position was as a volunteer for a local music festival!!

A typical day was spent helping people enjoy the festivities of the festivals, by ensuring everyone (including co-workers) was having the best time possible.
Pros
free music concerts. Food was provided for each shift
