Pay not in line with competition
Associate (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB9 November 2018
RBC really likes to push the “overall compensation” line when addressing pay. Our compensation is comprised of our RBC salary and discretionary bonuses. Which are not guaranteed and which are different for every person across the firm based on who they work for and whether or not that person or people are willing to pay out of pocket. It relies heavily on your negotiation skills and unfortunately, comparisons to others can have a negative impact on those negotiations. Your value is degraded by someone not willing to pay a premium, out of their own pocket.
Pros
Good people
Cons
Embarrassing pay

It is a great workplace. Everyone is very helpful and such a fun place to work. There is definitely advancement and growth, only downside is salary is not as competitive as other financial institution.

RBC is a great place to work if the environment is right as some branch managers and manager client care could be hard to work with, but overall, its a good place to work.
Pros
Work life balance is guaranteed
Cons
Branch managers and Manager Cleint Client could be tough to work with.

Work at AKBC was very flexible, employees had the liberty of working from home depending on their job description and I happen to fall in the category of these kind of employees with flexible work structure.
Management gave opportunity to work in other department of my choosing.

In it for themselves
Business Banking and Business Service Officer (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB6 April 2018
In all my years with the Bank I never felt like I was part of a team. Everyone was in it for themselves and it was the "old boys club" at the time. Unfortunately, although I made many friends there, in the end management were very thoughtless when it came to their long tenured employees.

Associate Assistant (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB29 December 2017
decent job, good hours, pay is quiet low. NO real advancement, unless you plan on becoming an advisor, otherwise this is your job. good benefits, if you get a good team its great however those are few and far between.

Only good if you're good at sucking up to management
Banking Advisor (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB17 July 2017
Typical workplace where decision comes from upper management and advancement depends on favouritism. Competitive work environment and some branches are better than others. I would recommend starting at a small branch and work your way up.
