Great work experience, great co-workers. Extremely high expectations but pay could be much higher. Note enough time to gain the neccessary financial knowledge.

Stressful and Lack of Advancement
Client Advisor (Former Employee) - Huron, ON - 30 November 2023
When I started there, there had been adequate staff and mediocre support for training. Training was adequate in certain areas, but other areas were severely lacking. Increasing demand, especially in a lack of support to support the increased demand, was very stressful. There was also a lack of support, lack of awareness (barely any "thank you's"), and constantly a lack of staff. If you tell management about your future career plans, they say "That's great" or "Good for you", but do not support you in going towards that goal. There are workshops and social groups within RBC, however, due to the lack of support, you probably cannot attend these groups. Also, clients are allowed to make threats or harass you, however, management would not support the staff as they support the clients instead. There were times where I dreaded having to go into the branch as someone might actually take their threat seriously. There are employee appreciation days, however, they purchase the least expensive treats for the staff. They also do not give staff access to certain things (access to the vault, access to the ATM room), even with a good amount of time with the company. Management will go back on their word (allowing certain accesses/programs for you, but delay because it is not needed "at this time" but panic during emergencies) as well as HR (promising jobs but cancelling the position). If you apply for a position here, request legal advice before signing the employment contract. As RBC may rescend the offer and tell you that you have no future at the company.
Cons
Staff Shortages, Increasing demand, Lack of Advancement

Good Company, Stressful department
Collections Officer (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 29 November 2023
Having to deal with angry clients constantly yelling and belittling you is stressful. Your time is micromanaged. No time between each call to decompress without your stats being affected. All about stats and less consideration for the mental strain clients cost you each day. Some managers are great, some aren't. Depends on the team you're assigned. Extremely low salary for the expectations and stress of the role. No room to progress unless you're moving up the ranks in collections - which is just more collections. Good company benefits offered, but based on your salary, you don't qualify for any bank products so its redundant.

Retaliation
Administrator (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 27 November 2023
Horrible place to work. Retaliation is rife and senior managers will block your progress if they feel threatened by your ambition or drive. Should not be on the list of Best Place to Work. Reporting anything to the external HR system is also useless. They will support their manager and not you.

Jobs at RBC
foremore row
Foreman (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 24 November 2023
pparently back in the 17th century a lot of people tended to promote their nephews to powerful positions at the expense of other candidates. Nepotism has come to mean favoritism of any family member, so if you’re the daughter of a powerful CEO, don’t worry, you can still be the beneficiary of nepotism. However, people might not like you when you become the Vice President, unless you’ve really earned the title.

Fun workplace great coworkers
Banking Advisor (Current Employee) - Airdrie, AB - 22 November 2023
Fast paced environment, where you need to be quick at learning and willing to try anything before you know what you’re doing, so be prepared for that.

Declining culture, no accountability and lots of nepotism
Banking Advisor (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 22 November 2023
Was a great place to work but every department has been slow to act on the brain drain of employee churn and lack support. So many new people are completely lost and a huge lack of taking ownership company wide.

Supportive manager and branch director
Associate (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 22 November 2023
I had great coworkers that I enjoyed working with. No doubt that they know how to hire good people to create healthy work environment. Your tasks will vary depends on which advisor you are working with or the team environment you are in. It requires a lot of form preparations for client signatures especially if you are under new investment advisor and helping her/his clients asset to be transferred. But great training resources are there for you to learn. Juggling given tasks to meet deadlines can sometimes be challenging, so I would say the ability for time management is the most expected aspect for this job.

enjoyable co-workers
Advisor (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 21 November 2023
If you were self-motivated there was good opportunity for developing your business. Not a strong emphasis on mentoring. IPO participation was often limited.
