Fairly productive. Friendly workplace
Bank audio typist (Former Employee) –  Plastic Surgery Department11 March 2019
There was no proper training at first and I had to learn on the job from secretaries, etc.
The staff turnover was quite high including that of team leaders which created inconsistency in the work environment.
It was generally a friendly atmosphere to work and not overly stressful.
I learned to use new computer systems (patient centre for example) and the way in which a small hospital works. Eventually I was asked to do associated admin with the typing and cover for secretaries on holiday or sick leave.

The management changed a lot and again there was no consistency. I also found much of the middle/higher management were very set in their ways.
Pros
discounts for NHS staff, a small friendly hospital where you can learn a lot and interact with patients.
Cons
Bad management at times creating staff unhappiness.

Lovely close network of employees. Due to it being a small hospital majority of the people know each other giving it a fun and caring environment.
Staff Nurse (Current Employee) –  East Grinstead28 July 2016
A typical day is working with great people, giving patients the opportunity to return back to "as normal as possible" after a traumatic point in their lives be it from cancer or trauma. As its a small specialised hospital, it is easy to learn there and it is encouraged. The management have the patient's best interests at heart and try to amend the workings of the hospital to suit this as a regular occurrence. They are proactive in anticipating work load and make sure measures are put in place for any eventuality. Colleagues are close and supportive and work as a team. The hardest part of the job does not happen often, but knowing there isn't much more you can do for a patient. The most enjoyable part is working with who I work with. Its almost like a family.
Pros
The staff
Cons
Its hard to move up due to lack of staff leaving
