The politics, backstabbing, and general lack of trustworthiness of staff makes for a terrible work environment
I started with many illusions and quickly realized I was not allowed to have a voice, ask questions, or show agency. I was hired with a graduate degree, experience and motivation and expected to shut up, do my tasks and not question. There is zero innovation, all politics and backstabbing on the admin side. It’s probably great if you’re an academic.
How long does it take to get hired from start to finish at Queen's University? What are the steps along the way?
Casual positions can take anywhere from a couple weeks to months depending on the need for new hires. It consists of submitting a resume and being successful in an interview and may include a small practical abilities test.
Full time positions occur rarely and take weeks to go through the application, interview, presentation, final selection stages.
