Awful workplace - treats employees with no respect
Management shows no regard for tutoring staff. They treat you as employees but label you as independent contractors so when you have an issue they say they cannot help you because you're not technically an employee. Yet, order you to do many unpaid duties and will not give you good hours or classes if you don't do them. These unpaid duties include: filling out student reports, making videos for students, filling out teacher profiles and biographies, buying and creating props, buying equipment, going over evaluations, filling out administrative documents, sending emails and responding to constant chat messages, and addressing any student issues that you are experiencing. They fire long-time staff overnight via group Skype messages. They did not speak to 3/4 of the staff who had a list of demands, and the company threatened the staff into compliance with legal action. They show no regard for workers' rights, workplace safety, or the health and safety of workers. They do not show their staff the basic principles of respect and courtesy. They constantly put the responsibility on upper management and you cannot speak to anyone who will give you a straight answer. There are so many better online teaching companies to work for where you will be treated and labelled as a proper employee. Turn and run away.
